hi all

just bought a 54 plate ml270cdi, well, it arrived last thursday, only 29 miles on the clock, now has just over 600. a week old today.

friday i took it back with wheel wobble, and pulling to the kerb, same tuesday, same wednesday and again today, thursday.

mb southamton now saying that it's all to book specs but...

wheel wobble may be due to defective tyres, not covered by warranty

and

the drift to the left is due to the car following the camber, although on the opposite camber it drifts far far less or is indeed straight.

and oh, great joy, today i find that the boot carpet is soaking wet!!

mb have now had three opportunities to correct these faults and have thus far readjusted and re set and tested....

i'm at my wits end... can i do???

thank you

andrew

Welcome .....

Sorry to hear of your hassles.

Wheel wobble might suggest incorrectly balanced wheels - could be as simple as that ?

They are right about the camber thing, I'm afraid, its a "feature" - but there may be ways to fix it ! (documented recently elsewhere on this forum !)

Make sure you don't let up until you are satisfied with the car though .... Good luck !

hi ya S

they've had the car back for tracking and wheel balancing but the problem is still there. merc say that it's well within all of merc's tolerences....

i've been out in other ml270's and they don't wobble or pull like mine....

i've formally rejected the vehicle but the dealer are not prepared to accept that it has been rejected and say that it is fine...

i'm going spare... can someone offer advice or help please

cheers

You need to write to them via recorded delivery stating that you have given them three opportunities to put the vehicle right and as it is not to the standard expected and the faults have not been corrected you are formally rejecting the vehicle. Take the vehicle straight to them and leave it there. One of the conditions of rejecting the car is that you must give it to them asap. Certainly do not put any more miles on it.

Presumeably you drove a demonstrator before you purchased. Did this have the same defects? If not, point this out to them.

Mine pulls to the left on a cambered road as does just about any car.

Unfortunately the build quality of many ML's is not what you would expect. You have to put up with it, repeatedly take it back until its fixed or reject it. I took mine back twice and its fine. Everything sorted.

Good luck

If you have given them oportunity to sort these problems I can't see how they can object to you rejecting the vehicle. As said above the demonstrator vehicle did not exhibit these traits so why should yours.
Take it back and kick up a stink in front of all their customers, also might be good to check with Trading Standards about this as they are usually very helpfull.

Best of luck

I fail to see how tyres on a brand new vehicle aren't covered by the warranty.

You could have an out of round tyre causing the wobble.

Have the dealer contact MB Service to have the vehicle inspected by one of MBs own Area Techs.

Keep pushing and if necessary contact MB Customer Services yourself.

Ml faults

I had 28 faults on my first ML and I rejected it after two years when the final nail in the coffin was the rust on the chassis..

A man from Diamler Chrysler was appointed as a mediator in a joint meeting with the dealer..

When they finally accepted manufacturing deffects they tried to knock me on the value.. but I was prepared for that in the meeting..

I got the full two year market value back and 10% off a new model..

Keep on at them.. document every action.. every date.. every fault. Keep quoting numbers such as days in the work shop.. number of repeat fault visits..

get an independant AA report of the like.. and send them them a bill if it prooves in your favour..

The best response I got was when I filmed the faults and produced colour photgraphs.. Blow the pictures up real big.. in your case show the wheel womble..

Contact the tyre manufacturer.. get a solicitors letter.. just keep going.. don't just don't give up. In the end they will reject it just to shut you up..

good luck
