Mod a W208 ?

Thanks for your input. As well as supplying, I thought CKS also fitted. I wonder if you get a better service if they fit. Then again, if they can't be bothered to advise properly on teh products, then they may be worth giving a miss.

I am also a little frustrated at the shortage of AMG kits hence considering the replica AMG kit or even the Brabus kit. I am not particularly after an aggresive kit, just something a little nicer coupled with some lowering (thinking about 30mm)

CKS do various exhaust work (they had a very little, worn-out looking garage below their office), but they actually out-source alot of their work.
Remaps, for example, are done elsewhere.
I wouldn't have thought they do body work either, regarding kits.

Also, I believe they have moved address, but I think their website still shows their old address?! :dk:

Going for a kit that bolts straight on is probably the best way to go.

Eibach's are probably your best bet for a 30mm drop.

Note:
As I understand, H&R springs lower the car alittle more than 30mm but give an even drop.
Eibach's will give you your 30mm drop, but also give a slightly uneven drop.
Front will sit fractionally higher than the rear.
This is why I then changed the #5 spring pads for #2 pads.
Drop was then even.

whats the point you will never get the v8 noise :)

how did you get it from 190bhp to 231?

I don't want the V8 noise thats what the Audi is for I want a "screamer"

Got to 231 with Brabus K1s Tuning kit, Pulley upgrade, larger intercooler, Brabus exhaust Manifold, Brabus Free flow exhaust, Green flow panel filter.

Head is now away in Germany for porting, polishing, bigger valves, high lift cams, should be back week after next.

New exhast going on tomorrow to match the gas flows from the new head, so all I should have to do is fit the head when its back, relocate the MAF and get it on the dyno :D

Hey all, I had my CLK 320 convertible lowered recently, I used the Eibach -50mm springs with standard shocks & No. 2 cups..... I wanted the lower look, but wanted to retain some degree of comfort.
Also, I've just put on the staggered AMG wheels & to say I am please with both looks & handling is an understatement.

Only thing I have to be a bit carefull of is I do need to slow right down for speed bumps, or it scrapes the front.

That looks great Stuart, any more photos ?

I want to achive something similar. I have picked up some staggered AMGs of eBay and now want to lower and change the front grille.

Interestng choice to go with standard shocks and Eibach springs. My only worry is that lowering 50mm is too much, I was thinking around 30-35mm would be just right.

Still not sure what combination of springs and shocks would offer the best compromise between fast road driving and comfort. Mine is an Elegance so I anm not sure if the standard shocks will be a little too soft.

Also, any experience and suggestions of which Star front grille I should go for ?
Photos would be welcome :)

Hi

Thanks, I am very pleased with the looks.
I'll get some more photos up later if I get a chance.

I don't know about the star grills personally, I don't think they go well with the bonnet star & I kinda like that..... I still drive along behind people pretending it is the sight from the guns in the front :thumb:

Thanks for the photos Stuart. The 50mm drop doesn't look that low - you have got me thinking now.

as regards the grille, I agree, i don't like the star grille if the bonnet star is left on, I was thinking of removing the bonnet star so that it looked more like the Mk2 CLK (W209), like this:

OK bit of an update on my project.

Cylinder head ported and polished, bigger valves, uprated cams, new bigger throttle body now fitted and sounds awesome only problem is it pops back on the overrun like a WRC car and shoots flames out of the exhaust so over fuelling a little me thinks, so a bit of work to do on the map and exhaust will have to come off and be replaced with something that matches the gas flow to stop the popping back so a bit more work in that area.

New Brembo discs fitted, calipers painted in Azurite blue to match the car complete with logo's, Goodridge flexi hoses fitted all round and I've took a leaf out of the Lotus owners book and gone with Pagid Pro pads, which look very good but can't comment on performance yet as it's not been on the road.

Next steps a little paint correction and new ICE

Still keeps me busy at weekends :thumb:
