Hi,

Has anyone been to Monaco to see the GP - if so, could you recommend which stand is the best. I have heard that the best viewing is done from the swimming pool area.

Does anyone have any experience here - any advice welcomed...

thanks

I should imagine a swimming pool in Monaco would be an excellent view point - not sure about the F1 though! :D :o

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Why not rent a Yacht against the harbour wall, fantastic views and such style.
You can watch the race whilst enjoying waiter service. :)

Hi Dieselman,
Just tried to pm you, but your box is still full of 'pud' :)

John

Swimming pool is definitely the best spot, but seats are usually hard to come by, I was on Casino Square 3 years ago, and only saw the cars for about 150 metres, but had a large screen in front of the stand so got to see most of the race from the front so to speak, It is a very noisy weekend and beer was well over £6 a pint, it was well worth the trip down there, the Saturday night circuit drive is best done as a pedestrian as there are so many cars (90% Ferrari's) going round the circuit that the maximum speed must be around 5MPH I think the best way to view the race is from a balcony, there are a number of companies offering space, and they give you a good idea of how much track you can see..
For the week running up to race day all the roads around the Cóte d'Azur are full of big money cars, it gets to the stage that you don't even give them a second glance they are so common. Must be bad when you spend $100000s on a car and nobody notices you

I just cannot even attempt to imagine just how noisy it must be.

A couple of years ago the small town of Bourne in Lincolnshire closed off its two main streets to allow BRM's to celebrate Raymond Mays anniversary. (can't remember the actual anniversary) but the Formula 1 BRM's were giving it 'welly'. I was at the kerbside on my stretcher and their exhaust was blowing my hair back, and the noise was deafening.

What on earth must it be like at Monaco? Is ear protection a must?

John

Casino curve

Just found this picture, as you can see there is a large screen to the left that follows the leaders, but also you can see more than 1/2 of the amount of visible track from this seating area. (not much really) In the picture you have the Casino directly in front of us, and to the left is where the Ferrari owners club has it's balcony. They never once cheered Schumacher.
