More SLK indicator faults

Hi

I know there have been a few threads on this subject, but none seem to describe my fault.

I hadn't used my SLK for about a week - it's not garaged, but it is kept under a big three sided car port which protects it from rain and the worst of the weather. This morning when I started it, a yellow light stayed on. I thought it was the foglights so I reached for the light switch, but as I touched it (I didn't turn or press it) the warning light went off.

I then backed out, switched off and got out to close the gates (too many cars left defrosting have been stolen). When I restarted, the yellow light stayed on again. Then I realised it was the blown bulb lamp, so I started checking bulbs, only to find that the indicators didn't work (although the hazard lights did). Everything else seemed to work fine. Again, as I touched the light switch to check these, the warning lamp went off, and the indicators worked fine.

I see from several threads that there seems to be some connection between the light switch and the indicators - but what is the connection ?

I also see that there are several other things I should check. There is no water or dampness in the boot, or in foam coffin around the PSE. The roof works. The interior light works. The central locking works, and all the lights flash as they should when it operates.

I havn't checked the multi function relay - what should I check for and how do I do it ?

Has anyone seen this fault before and/or does anyone have any other ideas ?

Does anyone know how the blown bulb detection circuit works ? Or what might cause the warning to light when all the bulbs are healthy ?

Cheers

Geoff

Hi Geoff

I would not worry about a one off glitch on these cars, my SL will throw up the odd fault that does not exist

Where the lights/ locking/ indicators come ito these things is that it is all part of the central locking and alarm

You lock with remote,, locking pump needs to know that it can, and know where windows are, once done it confirms with a flash of the indicators

thats something like how it works and Any moisture can give a false alarm :):)
