 My car (C180) passed the MOT however the MOT station issued the following advisories :

NSF anti-roll bar has slight play in a pin/bush [2.4.g.3]
OSF anti-roll bar has slight play in a pin/bush [2.4.g.3]
NSF wheel bearing has slight play [2.5.A.3c]
OSF wheel bearing has slight play [2.5.A.3c]

Car has only 35K miles from new. Can anyone advise what is the pin/bush and where is it situated. Can these advisories be adjusted or will I have to renew parts, would rather have a go at fixing it myself. Would be obliged for any advice or should I leave it to the professionals.

Thanks in advance.

When's the next B service due? They are all things that should be picked up then if they are real issues.

Wheel bearings can be adjusted, but merc's seem to require a very accurate setting so a dial guage is the best way - although you can do by feel. Jack the front of the car up, grab the wheel by the top and bottom and rock back and forth to see how bad is really is, a slight (felt rather than observed) movement isn't really an issue.

With my cynical head on, I see advisory notices as a license to fail next year. However, with my logical head on, I know that a garage should properly inspect all parts during an MOT test and only fail if they have deteriorated bellow acceptable limits. The fact that an advisory has been issued in the past is immaterial.

My local garage gave me an advisory for several years running for an exhaust problem. It only deteriorated enough to cause a failure on the last test before I got rid of it. (Always knew that I had kept the car one year too long)

All it means is your front wheel bearing need adjusting easy to do and either the main anit roll bars bushs are worn or the arb drop links are worn again nothing rocket science or to dear.

Thanks Lynall for the quick response to my question. Great drawing showing parts requiring attention. At least now I know what I'm looking for, whether I have the skill to do the job is another matter!!. Still as they say, knowledge is half the battle.
Thanks again, I'm off to put my boiler suit on.

I had to remove item 50 to replace the front coil spring on my wifes c320 and only thing i would say is give the threads a really good wire brush and a soaking in wd40 for a few days this way mine came of easy enough.
Of course as you are replacing them i suppose if they wont undo a quick touch with the angle grinder will do the job
