Has anyone seen this updated version of the system? Just need the licence plate number and the make now. V5/MoT test centre no longer required.

I think it'll make selling far harder for the secret blow-over con artist/lost history element of the trade, or indeed private sellers.

In my idle moments, I've uncovered some tremendous comedy and calamity in the failures...

See OCH 315M...

Hmmm, my (private) plate brings up my old S class.

It's been on 3 other cars since then.

Glad to see that the old bumper is still going strong though, 190k miles on it a year ago.

I'm having the dvla sort out the almighty **** up they have on my vehicles record, Long story short they managed to tie 2 different chassis numbers to the same reg number!

Just checked Dvla have sorted the issue thank god, And a Big thankyou to "WOODYTHEWISE" for posting the original thread as without it id had been stuffed lol. :)

I wonder if the test centre gains some advantage out of conducting a failed test before retesting and passing ?

I knew my car needed new tyres and , as I had done before , purchased tyres and arranged for my local garage to fit them then carry out the MOT .

Looking just now , I see the car was failed on the two rear tyres ( which I'd have said were evenly worn pretty much on the limit , and certainly just above the tread wear indicators ) then retested and passed , all on the same date , with the same recorded mileage and no additional charge for the 'extra' test .

Maybe the garage gains some benefit in statistics through this ?

Hands up those of you who DIDN'T enter the details of cars they owned in the past to see what happened to them after leaving your stable..... :D

I just discovered my classic car failed test in 2013 due to not working stop light and then passed it on the same day. I had no idea about it. Garage never mentioned it to me.

I'm not even sure it's correct info because I'm sure my stop lights were working ok before test. I checked the car before taking it to the garage.

Well my mate Dave looked at this site today and checked his reg numbers. Much to his shock, Dave found that one of his cars had expired last week. Dave had a word with himself about this, then spoke to the MOT station and got it booked in and tested today. It failed on headlight alignment being too high, which the MOT chap then fixed free of charge for Dave. Phew. Dave is a happy chappy now.

I think this is fairly standard that they fail a light then correct/fix it FOC. It shows that they are actually doing their job (which is what you want)

I see that my car had a failure that was not aware off. Reason offside headlamp aim too high . And as I have xenon lights and never paid a penny on either bulbs or anything else I don't see how it could have been found and fixed within the same day at zero cost.. self levelling supposed to work and does work
Unless I am missing something

Probably exactly the same case as mine and explained above.

That's what I found:
Reason(s) for failure
Nearside Rear position lamp(s) adversely affected by the operation of another lamp (1.1.A.3f)
Offside Rear position lamp(s) adversely affected by the operation of another lamp (1.1.A.3f)
Offside Stop lamp not working (1.2.1b)

Pure fiction. All lamps in one cluster and never touched by anyone, before or after.

That's what you get , Penelope , for going to that **** Dastardly's garage :D

That's nothing I had an advisory saying "wrong wheels fitted"...........they were a set of 17" winter wheels rather than the 18" normal summers........thing is the 17" are an approved size, what a system.

One of my old W124's seems to be scrapped in 2012 but am glad to see that others are still running.
Interesting is that W210 still doesn't have a single advisory in entire history (I still feel sorry for selling this car)
On the other side I can just imagine how much spend had to be made to sort out the SRS light coming on on W215 but it had some 30k miles added in last 2 years.
List of reasons for MOT failure of my first and only Audi A6 is tremendous. I just can't believe someone would go for MOT with so many steering problems.

Kwik Fit once failed my E60 for having an obstructed windscreen.

They took the satnav bracket off from the very bottom right hand side of the windscreen and then passed it.

Did make me laugh at the time.

Just tried to get the MOT history for an E350 CDI S212 2011 I'm in the process of buying from a dealer and the site comes up with 'no vehicle matching that data found'. It's a valid registration number and my current car checks out fine. Should I be concerned?!

I wouldn't worry, my mum's car isn't on there either and she's had it years.

Is it coming off a private plate?

The new system has lots of issues. Mileage history seems to be lost before around 2012. Garage names and some other details are also lost.
