Hi Guys

will fitting mudflaps to my coupe likely to cause more issues with rust? i dont want to create more water traps by fitting them.

any advice?

Personally I thing they are ugly.

MB mud flaps don't fit well either

imho they look Ok on a workhorse like a 124 estate; but on a cabriolet or a coupe they are a definite NO. Ugly and as Olly says they dont fit brilliantly anyway. Leave em off and just hose out inside the wheel arches when you wash the car.

They may well be ugly, but so are cills and rear bumpers peppered with stone chips, tar spots and other crap. IMHO, needs must - mud is the least of your problems.

Fixed properly, they fit perfectly, but I still seal round with silicon sealant especially within the wheelarch. No dirt traps and easily removed if required.

I had 4 on mine when I bought it, then 3, then 2... The last one was removed by the bodyshop when I had some paint done. With the sports chassis they caught on kerbs when parking 2 wheels on the pavement (actively encouraged around the side streets near my office).

The lower bits of a C124 are plastic and there's not much mud in London so I can't say I miss them.

I don't have a single chip or mark and I don't have the mudflaps, this is on my W124, unless you travel down gravel roads at speed I can't see why yours would differ from my experience?

Dave!
