My car clearly can't count!

The next service countdown has been on miles since we had the car and last time I looked was at about 2000 miles to go for an E service.
Its now changed to days but it clearly isn't linear. I started the car on Monday and it said 28 days. By the following day it was on 24 and today its still on 24.
I'm not going to do 2000 miles in a month so I assume it will continue with this rather random time scale.
So what's an E service and how long is 28 days in service speak?
Thanks

Isn't the servicing schedule explained in the cars manual?

Intelligent and innovative, Mercedes-Benz ASSYST alerts you when your car needs servicing. The system measures variables like oil quantity & quality, engine load, temperature and speed to determine the optimum time to service the vehicle

As above - perfectly normal. I still had nearly 5,000 miles to go, when it changed from mileage to time indicator for the recent D service.

If you go to Mercedes ESS and input your car details, it'll tell you exactly what needs to be done.

It isn't calendar days. It's typical usage days. If you don't drive it for a week, it might only deduct a day. If you take it to brand's hatch for the day it will probably deduct a week.

Yeah, mine is in days but it isn't linear, it goes up and down depending on how much the car has been driven.

TBH I ignore it anyway. My car will do around 7 to 8k a year. It will be serviced annually with a mid-term oil change as well. Air filter yearly, pollen every two years.

I'm sure mine is linear as I hardly use the car but it does go the full 2yrs between servicing that ASSYST used to allow.
