Last Christmas my brother gave me a present of a trip to Germany to include a visit to Stuttgart and the Mercedes museum, and a drive round the Nurburgring. It was redeemable in the Summer, and so the trip took place beween the 5th and the 11th July 2008.

We drove to Dover to catch a ferry to Boulougne, then drove to a small town called Bayreuth, then on to Offlingen and driving on some gorgeous roads in the Black Forest region of southern Germany. We then travelled north to Stuttgart, and finally on to Nurburg, before heading back to Boulougne, and then home.
I shall not bore you all with the other photos, but the one which matter most to you guys are the one from the Mercedes Museum and the
Nurburgring, so here are links to them both.
ETA: Just for the record, we weren't driving in my Merc, but in my brother's Seat Leon Cupra TDI (150bhp version)

Enjoy!

We drove around to see Bayreuth because of fowl weather. We did go passed the Opera House. It looks absolutely gorgeous, although we didn't get to see it up close or inside.
We visited because my brother's girlfriend works there, so I'm pretty sure I'll be going back at some point. I'll have to make a point of seeing it more in depth :)

You're not at all bias about the photo you like, are ya? ;)

Doing the ring next month with friends having 4 days attacking it with a variety of cars including my Racing Cosworth Puma, BMW M5 (Nephews can't edcuate him on German marques) Maserati Spyder, Audi RS6 and a Renault Megane fully fledged cup racer should be in the 9 minutes something with the BMW & Maserati but should get the Renault somewhere in the eights, will be taking plenty of pics and video footage so will post when we get back

There's a nice old race circuit (which is now public road) close to Stuttgart:

http://home.bawue.de/~matthead/solitude/solitude.html

Was used for Motorcycle GPs and non-championship F1 races between 1924 and 1965.

On the main straight the pits still exist, and there's a control tower with Mercedes on it plus a few other buildings. I will try and get some pics. when we're over there visiting the in-laws next month.
