My "New to me" Mb

Well done Gav - you got there!

Looks great apart from the wing badges. I even like the black wheels on black bodywork.

Keep us posted on the issue. It is a bit weird from what you described but my money is on the pump - especially if it is the original.

I reckon they have a typical life of 5 > 10 years.

When my car was driven away, I felt a sense of relief so I was ready to sell methinks!

i hate the stretch look,

A few years back I sold some nearly new Continental tyres on ebay. The lad came to pick them up and told me he was going to stretch them onto Merc rims.

I nearly gave him this money back.

Congrats on finding a decent E55 Gav. Looking forward to your project thread:D now

Nice one Gav, congratulations :thumb:

Jobs Sort the suspension out, (maybe new compressor) Decent Tyres as i hate the stretch look, Wing badges, Bonnet badge, nsr arch liner, and some number plate surrounds and a dam good engine detail.

Don't forget the Italian Tune Up :D

Doubt if its the pump, my guess would be the valve distribution block, or nylon pipes to & from it.
Its situated on top of the compressor, just get a bottle of soapy water & spray it while the pump is working, ie set (or get someone to press the raise car button) spray the valve block & wait to see if there are any bubbles .
If not, it might be one of the 4mm nylon feed pipes possibly slightly chaffed.

On mine the 4 mm nylon pipe was chaffed & was covered by a sleeve, stupid me decided it was the pump, took it off while checking the pipes found it was the pipe from the valve block to the compressor. It seemed to be OK until the pipe became warm & then leak slightly ie park up & 3 hrs it would be lowish?

Replaced that pipe but, stupid(Lazy) me, let my son re fit it, the silly sod( i called him worse) managed to strip the plastic thread in the compressor, so had to replace the compressor that worked perfectly fine in building pressure but leaked at the thread ...

Doesn't sound like a project though ... unless you are taking all the mods off, be interested how the TCU upgrade is though ?
Love the colour , the Cerberas used to have a similar colour & look Glorious when buffed up:D

Hi French, I really apreciate that imput buddy thankyou will have a look, No its not somuch of a project. It's obviously been looked after.

Not sure what direction i'm going with it the mods have been done tastefully (apart from the stretched tyres) lol

Yes its a cracking colour , love it :)

Sounds like the valve block to me too... If the pump does need replacing, it can easily be rebuilt, don't buy a new one!!!

Something else which might be worth checking is the ride height on Star when you can.

Mine values were all over the shop and not standard either... although how that came to be is a mystery to me.

The fault came on this afternoon as i was taking it to be code read and the car was nice and dry so i dont think its a electrical fault, see this thread here.

The previous owner did say to me he thought it needed the values setting on star so as not to see the message.

Even if it isn't the pump - it farted around on mine from literally when I bought it in March 2011 until I replaced it in 2012/13 I think it was.

I thought it was electrical gremlins as it was intermittent but I found it had sunk one morning which was the final piece of the puzzle as it was testing normal every time it was done up until then!

I'd be tempted to change it anyway if it is not a spring chicken - especially if you can do it yourself.
