It's called risk assessment!
In our case it's essential that the car returns to the pits using only the driver 'and the tools carried on board'.
The idea of a shell change is an interesting one, but I doubt it could be done without the car coming to a halt.....![]()
Crank sensors not showing up as a fault is quite typical of the intermitant failure mode of these parts. Least they are not silly expensive, although I have never bought an MB branded one!
No problem so long as the "tools carried on board" includes a TIG set , Lathe, Universal Mill, Pillar Drill, Plasma Cutter , and not forgetting a STAR diagnosis set - no , make that two STAR's .
My car seems to be half way there with the shell change idea - at least it disassembles itself while it is still moving.
