My trip to John R Weir Grangemouth

You need memory seats on your next car - if you don't already have them .

Somebody messes it up = your position restored with one button push :D

Absolutely - have the memory seats in mine for exactly the same reason. One ush and everything is hunky-dory :thumb:

Exact same thing happened to me at MB Milton Keynes a while back. Seems at MB dealers how you dress is very crucial to how you're treated!! :(

My local dealer is completely the opposite. I seem to always buy my cars from them in decent weather. As I don't feel the need to dress smart any more I normally turn up to look at cars dressed in scruffy t-shirt and shorts with flip flops. Never had a problem with mercedes, not even buying my wifes first one when they didn't know me.

Just goes to show the attitude of some of these guys. Most of the poeple I know who have a decent amount of wedge don't dress smart to go car shopping.

Just on the MPG thing,

Mine if I start it up and then wait for Mrs A210 to leave the house, re check the kids are fasten and basically sit on the drive for a few minuites can drop quickly to 13mpg or so...

Then when I do drive it takes quite a while to get back up to 20mpg...25mpg..30 etc so that could be why.

However lets face it, they WILL not drive it like you do, I've seen the jumped up salesmen regularly leave Chester Mercedes in what ever brand new model they have that night on loan. They leave as though they have just done a bank job, knowing full well its not their car :(

As for the seat thing while I appeciate your bad back I'm 6ft 2 and mrs A210 is 5ft nothing... I cannot phyically sit in her car until I move the seat to get in.

Hope you get the other bits sorted though

Storm in a teacup  :o

So long as MB Glasgow replace the wheel bolts if they damaged them, it all sounds ok to me as far as the service went - discounted price as well! :)

Will

And they're just going to hand you £71 on your say-so? Or that of John Weir for that matter. Somehow I think not. If you're lucky you'll get a letter saying something like 'We've asked the mechanic in Glasgow how tight he did up your nuts and he said' "to the correct torque". How are you going to prove anything to the contrary?
You might have your day in court all the same if you persist with the slagging of MB Glasgow.

Looks like you are completely wrong.

I've been on the phone today with MB Glasgow (after sending that email both to Pendragon and MB UK).

Here is my email from him, as a follow up to a long conversation on the phone today.

Hi Mr Taylor,
With reference to our telephone conversation I would apologise for our poor level of service and the obvious inconvenience this has caused, as agreed on presentation of the receipt for the Wheel Bolts I will reimburse you, also I will contact the Bodyshop at Evans Halshaw and request an immediate response to the delay in getting back to you.

I hope this meets with your approval,,
Kindest Regards

I will present the receipt from Weirs and I will get that cost covered. I cannot fault MB Glasgow for the way they are handling this.

I wouldn't let them know when you will be popping in, they will be on the roof with cans of boiling oil...

Ive always found the service dept at MB glasgow to be excellent tbh.

Well done. :thumb: And I must say I'm more than surprised.
Perhaps it's because he took his car elsewhere after receiving shoddy service. Main dealers must be realising by now that people are more likely to go elsewhere nowadays for a better deal.

Also MB must be realising they have to up their game in the face of the stronger (than 4 years ago) competition, I'm thinking XF, new 5 series, 3 series 320ED, even new A6. There's a hell of a lot of XF's on the road much more than the S type that it replaced.:)

Credit where credits due!

When Claire's ML had a probe with a flat batter (caused by a dodgy ECU in the end) at 2 years old. Mercedes came out and replaced it FOC (I thought it was a consumable item.) The service guy said thats what you're paying for...

I have to say I am now much happier about the place. Simple mistake but there is nothing more they could have possibly done to fix it and the complaint was resolved quickly.

I'll pop in, drop the reciept off when next in Glasgow.

That would be WASTE boiling oil .

Besides being cheaper , it is also more toxic

I have never had my cars serviced there , but have always found the guys in the parts department very helpful .

The service people were very helpful providing me with the history for my W124 which they had serviced from new - even though I bought the car from a breakers yard and was never going to take it back to them !

Had a double take when reading this....what is a Probe with a flat batter....:confused::confused:

I wonder if the comma is in the wrong place, it is a ridiculous figure.

Pretty low profits on an £83.4m turnover!!!

True it is very low, but still a profit rather than a loss as seen in many automotive businesses.
