Yesterdays commute to work was an absolute nightmare, as it was for many I'm sure. But I was in for an even bigger shock when I checked the computer

Mine was approx that on my previous c63 when it snowed jan/feb this year :thumb:

I got 8.2 mpg this morning on my 8 mile commute :(

Saying that, the S Class is definitely the place to be in this weather :)

The average speed looks a bit low too!

I once towed a trailer at a steady 50mph for 4 hours - supposed to be economical.

Got 8mpg.

I was driving a Chevy 454 though! More cubes but lethargic.

That's not bad! I used a 'Heavy Chevy' 454 'Dually' with a race car transporter trailer and used to get about 6mpg:eek:

The cold weather and the fact I am, at the moment, less than 2 miles from work has had a damatic effect on my fuel consumption. From an average of about 44 when I was doing mostly 100 mile journeys to airports to a outrageous (for me!) 32mpg:o
But I won't be swapping to C63 just yet!;)

Holy smokes, 2hours to do 10 miles!

Look at it this way. A gallon of petrol to keep you warm for 2 hours in pleasant surroundings and get you to work is not toooo bad!

Some years ago I had a Rover 214. I got less that 10mpg over 150 miles towing a caravan. A C63 would have been far more economical:)

That MPG is good for the size of the engine and average speed.

Mine is somewhat better, 33mpg in this snow.

It should be better, less resistance on the tyres and its going slower.

I do not understand, it should be 50mpg

stuck trying to get out of Goodwood in 06 in my CLK 55 ..

17 mpg for 20 miles use today. In a diseasel. Quite simply due to the amount of time the engine is running at idle (I estimate it's about 0.4 gallons/hr) or spend spinning the wheels to cut through ice or rocking from D to R to D to R to get out of a rutted parking spot.

That's probably because it's badged as a CLK63 so does better mpg!

;)
