mystery feint smell

My mb indie will look at the car on friday.
I think I will need A 212 830 06 96 as it looks like the source of the leak 150 on the attached diagram and 160 is the accompanying clip A 230 995 01 05.
This is an award winning video of the leak:

Is it a big job? Will wipers and underlying plastic rain gutters etc need to be removed? Or is there by any chance a special tool for removing this part with little stripping? Unlikely i suppose.
I just hope it is more than likely not the heater matrix broken or leaking.
Thanks for listening,
D.

No, that would be a faint smell, and also what the OP has. It would only be a feint smell if the real smell came from somewhere else...
Correct and right. I have a faint smell and not a feint smell in the car.

Could it be two issues? Just thinking about the work you light have to do. Could there also be a slight gasket leak on the top of the fuel tank? (noting you smell something when opening the tailgate).

On some cars, the top of the fuel tank is visible and the pump etc easily accessible be removing the rear bench. Might be work removing it and having a sniff regarding the diesel smell? Quick and cheap DIY anyway.
I pulled out the rear seat bench and no smell at all. I didn't go further but nothing from the area. Thanks MrGreedy

The leaking part was replaced and my indie pressure tested the system and no leaks. I gave the car a good drive tonight and no odours wafting no faint socks and diesel smell. It's hard to trust this car will remain water tight but ok at the moment.
We don't suspect injector problems and there is no evidence of diesel leaking. So maybe we'll be ok. We'll see.
Thanks for the replies and support.
D.

The source of the dieselish faint smell could be as per my latest exciting post-
