Hi all,

Im new to the MB scene and loving it, after much saving i went out and bought a 2008 c63, never looked back, what a machine. I need some help in what disc to update the maps, tried doing some homework and have thrown the towel in, what a minefield, can anyone please advise what disc i need please,

thanks,

Mark

As Tony says above, Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists - sponsors of this forum - are the gurus for all Comand related matters, and only deal with genuine MB discs. you first need to discover which version of the satnav you have - NTG4, 4.5, 2 or whatever. Then you can find out which disc you need for upgrading, and whether a second hand genuine disc is an option. Avoid copy discs.

As above.

OK, if your car has Comand NTG4 like paulshep69's link, then the DVD's are re-useable in another car once you have installed the update in your car. I've done this twice in my C220 2008. I know there's a discussion about the "legality" of re-using the DVD's - but hey, if you can buy a set of genuine MB DVD's from eBay, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new set yourself - although, of course, you then have the option of selling the DVD's on!

MB are not the only company that charges an arm and a leg for satnav updates - Porsche have a "special offer" at the moment, only £150 for the update. Considering the likes of Garmin and Tom Tom give you free Europe updates for life, car companies charging silly money for annual updates is ridiculous, especially when you consider the cost of a stand alone satnav against the cost of Comand!! That's the reason I have no hesitation in using "pre owned" DVD's to update my Comand!

Guess what - MB got wise to this when they facelifted the C in 2011 to NTG4.5 - from what I understand, the car has to be connected to the MB mainframe in Germany before an update can be installed - so once the free 3 years updates runs out, you're scuppered!! Bit like them changing the service interval W203 to W204 from 15.5k miles / 2 years to 15.5k miles / 1 year!!

A big thanks for your help everone, you have put me on the right road, once again, thanks,

Mark

You need the NTG4 disk set.

Avoid copies. We are presently making a living out of resurrecting comand units where an update has aborted half way through rendering the unit useless.

My W209 had a an old satnav disc so i bought from these guys the 2013/14 satnav disc with updates etc arrived in 2 days and worked perfectly for a fraction of the price was about £33 posted check them out:

I have a S500 w221. I have just updated mine with 2014 disc which is on offer from MB dealers at the moment at £99. Maybe They have a similar offer for your C63' worth a phone call.

pirated disks

Those people are selling pirated copies of the software.

When you start getting the 'Please insert DVD' message and your comand running hot its a sign that your laser is having trouble reading the disk. Have a read here;
