I have just bought a 1999 sl 500 and need a panoramic roof stand, can pick up nation wide

There were a few different types of stands on ebay from £99 upwards.

Very interested in knowing more about your SL500 - how about posting some in the gallery section?

As mentioned stands come up on eBay fairly regularly, I can also probably dig out the names of one or two companies that sell them if necessary. There's no specific stand for the panoramic roof, btw.

Some stands aren't suitable for the panoramic roof due to the different CoG. You definitely don't want it to topple over!

I've only ever seen the CG mentioned in respect of hoists (where the roof is suspended in the horizontal position) - I will take your word for it re. stands!

I've used the stand I have for both glass and metal.....been ok.

how do I post pics to gallery

How do I do that then?
Its in a Designo special paint job, Porsche Speedster Yellow and looks fabulous. 10 years old, full service history, 36200 miles and not a scratch or chip. I can't quite believe I got so much car for so little money.

Sounds lovely. interested to all about it as I am also thinking along the lines of purchasing an SL.

The gallery section is here at the top is a tutorial on how to post hosted pictures.

You can also attach pictures to your post but first they need resising so they are less than 100kb in size before you can attach them.

Have you thought about getting one of the roof hoists? I bought one from a ebay seller in Germany, superb quality, made from box section Aluminium. I rigged it up to the garage ceiling last weekend, works brilliantly and keeps the hardtop well out the way of any potential accidents. I paid £109 plus postage, quick delivery too.

That's a good price. Half what a Toplift one would cost:
