Hi All, i have a new E250 and i appreciate its not the meatiest car in the world but i feel as its lacking the 'roar and rumble' when i hit the throttle, any tips or modification recommendations as to what i could do to ggive the car some more sound? already had it remapped now just searching for the rumble?

thanks

I'm afraid Mercedes four cylinder diesels aren't known for their refinement, I know because I own one, so I think you'll struggle to get anything halfway "roar and rumble".

The V6 diesel maybe, not the four pot though...

To 'rumble' you really need a V and definitely not a diesel.

Current 4 pot diesel owner, former V8 petrol owner.

Ermm.

V8 diesel - you got to be having a laugh on those start up diesels. Cough, wheeze, clatter.

I spent years listening to Meatloaf emerge from '63 and '65 engines on start up every time my boss's wife left the office.

I know where the heavy metal soundtrack is and it's only from a V8 petrol.

Even my primary de-catted S500 sounded monsterous.

tie some coke cans to the back of your car with a bit of string. I'm sure it will turn some heads. :D

As said you've not got enough cylinders.

You could make what you've got sound louder, bassier and more boy-racer, but it won't change the sound to the growl that you're after. A V6 gives a baby version of what you get from a V8. So you'd have needed the 280 upwards.

I wouldn't say you'd get a 'rumble' so to speak, but for a respectable rasp sound under acceleration you could try a cat-back Miltek system.

I wanted one for my A3 tdi sport and wasn't disappointed, would never get anything worth grinning about on a diesel but it sounded better than stock :)

I was of a very similar opinion until I owned a RRS TDV8...

And mine sounded even better than his^^

That sounded nice! Shame about the cloud of smoke when driving away though.

When I went to buy mine, the owner was just pulling up as well and I couldn't believe how deep it was rumbling and I actually said to him (in a moment of stupidity) "It is a diesel, isn't it?"

The best sounding diesel I've ever heard by a long chalk, in fact better than a lot of petrols.

Top one says it's a C220cdi, the bottom one is a diesel with the Armytrix valved exhaust on it.

By the top one I meant the uploader hadn't mentioned what exhaust it is

The bottom one sounds rather nice for a diesel

The top one looks a bit like the tips on a Top Gear system, not sure they do a system for a diesel though?
