Hi guys.

I'm looking into getting my car re-mapped and have been searching around the net.

Do any of you know much about Paramount Performance, in Slough?

I've heard of them before, and even bumped into a guy at Le Man who had his SL55 tuned by them.

He seemed happy with the work, but I didn't really get to chat to him about it very much.

I would really appreciate hearing from any of you who know anything more about these guys.

The other option was DMS Automotive, but again, I don't know much about those guys either.

Regards.

There is another thread about remapping that members have talked/talking about the companies you mention. Quite recent as well.

DMS have a very good reputation but can be expensive. I would be interested to know what any tuner can remap the 63 engibe too. As I understand its pretty limted at the moment and the most you can get is about 25-30 BHP.........I could be wrong though

Actually, you may not be far off.

Paramount Performance told me that it's hard to say until they re-map it because these engines are all slightly different in their own little ways.
I'm expecting 20 - 40 ish.

I've given performance mods some consideration.
I appreciate that my I am limited to what I can do due to the fact that this engine is NA and no forced induction.

So I reckon it's pretty much re-maps and exhaust work that's available to me.

To be honest, it's brutal enough as it is, but I just wanted to squeeze alittle more from her and then concentrate on cosmetics.

Surely I can get Black Series output at least?

Rashman, I get my C63 in two days and once it has been run in (c.1500 miles) I will be getting a remap done. I have been looking into options with DMS, Evolve and others and all are quoting very similar outputs taking the engine in the c63 to about 520bhp (where it bloody should be in the first pace!!).

Given your CLK63 starts off with a higher output in the first place, then 20-40bhp is probably a realistic expectation from a remap.

Do you fancy trying to get a deal for two??

Hi Palmball, it's Jude1 off E90post.....

There is definitely scope on your C63 (brings it in line or above CLS/E63s etc) and I think Evolve have already done a couple. I am sure if there was enough interest from owners of Mercs on here then they will do a deal.

Jules.

A remap isn't just about power. It's about refining the way the power is delivered which itself can make a car feel faster and much better to drive. I'm not 100% certain how these top of the range come mapped, but most cars I've been involved with have a factory map which works on triggers. On the rolling road you see this as little puffs of black smoke as the revs increase and the fueling/ignition changes to suit that speed, on the road you can sometimes vaguely feel these as flat spots. A good remapper will smooth these out.

A while back I was in a 520bhp Saab 9000, it's a local Saab specialist car, this one in fact. Looks so average...

The way the power comes in is astonishing, not a hint of wheelspin and such a smooth torque delivery. Admittedly it has spent quite a few hours on the rolling road and with live map sessions but it shows what can be achieved. Oh and it drives like a totally standard car when you want to just go places.

Bear in mind service intervals and the quality of fuel used may need looked at afterwards. Whoever does the map should advise you of this :)

I've also been looking into this for my new toy... I've been speaking with Simon at Upsolute and he came back with similar figures of 20-30 upgrade.... Please do let me know, as the more that we can get together the better for money off!!

Hey guys.

Thanks for all your input.

Unfortunatley, because I can be quite an impatient chap, I have actually already booked my car in at Paramount Performance for next thursday! LOL

Sorry to have jumped the gun! haha

However, if any of you are available next thursday and are interested in a re-map.. maybe we can still strike a deal.

Let me know.

P. Performance contact number: 01753 533633. Ask for Gerald.
They are in Slough, west London.

Good comment about re-maps not being just about power.. the guy at P. Performance explained this too (regarding flat spots, power deliveies etc).

I will also be continuing to use V-Power.
Regarding servicing... I service and maintain my car so regularly that service dates are almost irrelevant.

I also have a friend who is the Head Technician at at local MB who lives 2 mins away. He looks after my car.

Hi buddy.

Good call on the C63!
Man, you're gonna love it!

M6?... man, you'll forget all about that in no time! heehee

Regarding a deal on re-maps.. see my other post above.

I'll say!

DMS were quoting nearly twice what Paramount Performance are charging.

I had lengthy chats with both of them.
It seems that they are both good at what they do and offer the same sort of packages.

I met a guy in Le Man who had his SL55 tuned by P.P

He was very happy with the work.

Reviews I've read, chatting to this guy (who had first hand experience) and the price all helped me to make my mind up.

I'll keep you posted.

Good luck with this .

How does remapping impact on any warranty that might be in place on your car ?

As I understand it, it does not effect warranty (he says nervously! heehee).

I believe it is also stated on their website under "frequently asked questions".

he looks after my ancient 210 estate too .. but I travel from E1

he mentions your 63 often -- he seems to be easily impressed :)

he used to look after my dearly departed CLK 55

Hey buddy.

I think I know who you are!
I think I remember chatting to you while he was working on your car.

He owes me an oil change which he's going to do for me on tuesday.

All ready for thursdays re-map! heehee

It's funny, when I first got the car, he took it into work with him to give it the once over...

I was nervous about this and told him to be gentle!

hahaha, He was cool. He's a good man.
He knows his stuff. He even rebuilt my tip-tronic gear box in my old CLK230! Much respect for that!

He wants to come with me on one of my saturday night driving missions!

I think I live on another planet at times, where can you "need" another 30 bhp except in a single make race series ? I cant tell if my car has 250bhp or 475bhp as you get to a level of performance when "ragging it" is impossible and if you do then your likely to get killed or to kill

Actually my missus has just pointed out that at 45 im past it and young lads do go out having street burn outs etc on a saturday - I accept this but i thought they only did it with supercars in the UAE

Ah well off to bed with me cocoa ....
