1994 Mercedes C180 classic
Finally got Wiring loom for RVM

I now have an auto dimming RVM (thanks jaymanek) it is the correct one for my car. However, I am in need of the wiring loom to connect the mirror to the dome light.

Any suggestions on a part number?

I doubt you will need one as I think its already pre wired.Mine was.

hi pluggers, mine wasnt! that russian parts website should have it, i`ll have a look later for ya.

On my old 1998 W208, the RVM came with a wire hanging out with a squarish multi-pin female connector, and it just plugged into a connector on the dome light electronics board. I.e. no wiring loom needed.

I wish mine was that simple. Mercedes have skimped on certain parts on my classic model. Hence the search goes on, I think there was a part number in the W202 accessories catalogue, if someone has it....

Alps was yours difficult to add the wiring then? or was it as simple as plug and play?

serves me right for not reading the original message properly! sry

the rear view mirror plugs into the dome light, you unplug the original and plug in your new dimming one. it sould have the loom on the mirror side.

I was thinking about the dimming loom which plugs into the drivers side dimming wing mirror to the RVM.

Yes it should but mine doesnt, I saw they did sell the cabling for the new mirror in the accessories catalogue, however my brother has binned it so no luck of finding it unless some good soul has a copy saved to computer .....

wont the cable from your existing mirror fit? as far as i remember the new mirror doesnt need any additional wires for the autodim, as its all sensor based (all within the mirror)

No, I read pluggers how to and he said that when you remove the rear view mirror, the plug drops down. My car is a classic, and rather than having the luxuries, I think MB skimped on certain things such as the wiring loom. Hence I cant plug it into the dome light directly. The connectors are different for facelift and pre-facelift mirrors.

1994 would more than likely have been pre alarm and thus no wiring to the light needed.

The Autodim mirrors ive seen ahve had a tail coming out of them which then plugs into the front lighting dome.

Is there a socket on the Dimming mirror that looks like it takes a loom?

makes sense... and the search goes on! its a pity im not at my parents for the next few weeks as im sure my old mirror still had the loom on it.

Sorry, may I suggest as extrem solution to utilize a simple feed (12V and ground) to the mirror (you should be able to utilize the feed to the dome light itself) and find a way to connect it to the mirror circuit?

you don't have the features like the reverse signal and internal light that, normally work.

...at least I'm wondering to do this in order to utilize the autodimm mirror from the old W202 facelifted into my 2003 W203

I cant see where the male plug on the mirror plugs into the dome light.

From what I can remember of the number, it was down as cabling. The mirror I have has a male plug, which I assume needs to go via another cable into the dome light. Man, I was looking forward to this mod too...

Ok got my wiring harness from the stealers, but not home free yet....

One of the plugs connects to the Auto dimming RVM, the cable also has another plug and a couple of wires coming off it, I have no idea where to plug them up to in the dome light as there doesnt seem to be a hole for that shape..... :(
