I like it though should (if the price is right) take sales off Golfs, 1 series, megan & vaxhaul coupes and also bring younger people onto the Merc brand.

I'd say it was squarely aimed right at the 1-series, and nothing else.

Looks very sharp to me. A few comments though: The alloys are way over sized and I can see the headlights being moved more rearwards for damage repairability.
