New A class options

I am moving from a w203 220 cdi into a new A class(company car) and have a couple of options, either a 220cdi AMG Line with exec package or a 200cdi AMG Line with premium package. From what I can see the premium pack comes with the LED headlights and intelligent main beam.

So what would you choose, the more powerful car or the better lights?

I drive approx 30k pa and often in the dark (winter months) so good lights are important to me but would I miss the extra poke?

thanks Mark

Only you can decide and how you drive. Maybe you should try and test drive the cars.
Bear in mind neither engine will be the same as a 12 year old one, even if it has the same name. Look up the power, torque and performance figures.

Go with the lights IMO, or when you drive past one with the lights it'll only annoy you! :thumb:

Go with the lights. I missed them off on my new car and had them on the old one. I am quite amazed at the difference and how much I miss them. They are a must on my next order form....

Chances are, you'll be fine with the A200.

However if you ever felt short changed on power, have it remapped. Then you have the best of both for £300 or less.

The Internet tells you intelligent LED headlights are fabulous, the real world tells you that are a pain in the bum on dark B roads whilst your at the mercy of them making a full beam descion.

And who maps an under warranty new car?

I agree with Alf.

ILS have amazing reviews. However, many members on this Forum are having major problems with theirs. I personally think they're to complex a system. Too much to go wrong. Too many malfunctions reported.

Go for the 220. The extra power & torque will be available all the time as opposed to lights you use on a nighttime.

IMO of course.

Ant.

For me, it's the LEDs that are the main issue.

I'd agree about the dubious advantage of ILS. I have it on my CLS and rarely use it due to the slight delay in reaction.

However the LED headlights are by far preferable to Xenons. (Based on my experience)

I don't really want to open up yet another remap hijack thread but thousands do have new cars done.

Thanks gents. I have gone with the 200 & LED's. My next decision was white or red.........I have gone white.

It looks like they are on a 16 wk lead time!!! But this will give enough time to research "removable tuning boxes"

Any recommendations?

Mark
