Hi All,

I am looking to replace the std Alloys on my CLS63 (218) and am scratching my head at which alloy / tyre sizes and off sets to go for. Therefore if any either E63 or CLS63 owners have fitted new Alloys can you post up your sizes please and opinion plus possibly a picture? Thanks Jules

Current OEM spec is;

FR 255/35/19 19x9 ET37 (I run 10mm spacers and the car is lowered slightly on H&R springs - 20mm, but there is still a 15mm gap)

RR 285/35/19 19x10 ET47 (I run 15mm spacers and the car is lowered on links about 20mm - but there is still a 25mm gap)

Appreciate the rears on an E63 are 19x9.5 with ET52.

Sorry i cannot seem to post the link Jules - but!
Black Magic CLS 550 photo shoot.
Vossed CV3s
Front 20 x 9
Rear 20 x 10.5.
These should fill that 15mm gap nicely eh?

Found it John on the Vossen website. I like the CV3 but prefer the VFS-5's. Also like the Judd T311r's. On the CLS550 it has airmatic suspension so can be easily lowered whereas on the CLS63 it has airmatic rear (which doesn't appear to move!) and normal springs on the front of which the "upgrades" to lower are H&R springs and KW adjustables, of which I have both but have the H&R's currently fitted.

Come on Jules, get some photos up!

I think vossen do a similar style I'll try find it.

Edit it's actually adv.1 that do them. I can't seem to add the bloody image.

They look really smart......I like them. Plenty of pics on MBWorld but not keen on many of the alloy choices over there.

The worst thing one can do is fit oversized heavy bling wheels to their performance vehicle. People go to extend of modifications yet ruin the gains by putting wrong wheels on their car. Not sure why.

I'm not really after a critique on going for larger wheels, my original post is asking current owners who have fitted none OEM wheels was sizes they went for. Happy to receive pics and set up recommendations aligned with my original post though.

To answer your question, then the standard OEM alloys are not forged and reasonably heavy. Even if the new alloys were heavier, then the fact the car now runs significantly more power than standard marginalises any loss. On being "over-sized", then whilst the alloy is 1 inch larger, the tyres are normally matched to maintain the same rolling radius, or very slightly more. I do think though that when lowered, that light coloured alloys on a dark body and vice Versa can make the alloys appear larger than they are (more so the ones in the original pics). I don't think the alloys in the first 5 pics look "blingy", I actually think they are reasonably close to previous AMG designs.

Jules

If you were going from 15" rims to 20" then there may be something to consider.

But going from maybe 19" to 20" with a lower profile tyre will be near identical. Plus if you buy a high quality after market wheel then the weight will most likely be similar perhaps lighter.

Sadly OP I can't offer an idea on wheel choices but I will say I think a CLS63 can pull off huge rims when it's sitting right so happy wheel hunting. :)

Just my 2p worth Jules. Definitely 20's, 9j front and 10.5 or 11j rears, 5 or 6 spoke deep concave single piece wheels is what I would be looking for.

Nice Abb. Vossen CV3's. They look good from certain angles but think the 5 spokes look too thin from the side on view.

Get yourself to specsavers! :D

Thats the beauty of them, lots of room to show of the size of those (yet to be painted) lime green calipers! Not to mention ease of cleaning!:bannana:

Anything looks good on the CLS
