So my dad got his brand new CLA180 shooting brake 6 weeks ago and people managed to crash into it 3 times so far! first time was a "minor" scratch of the rear bumper, looks like someone brushed their tire on it, removing the paint. Unfortunately he wasn't around and isn't aware who is responsible. Second one was a sainsbury's delivery truck, pulled out just after my dad turned left, that left a bad dent on the left rear side of the car. The insurance tried to bully him into admitting he was at fault using excuses like "we have CCTV footage that shows it was your fault" etc. The third one was from a brand new C63s saloon that kept reversing into the car while it was parked, broke the chrome cover of the diffuser. Guy requested that he gets it fixed for him instead of using insurances. Apparently MBUX wanted to call back into moma mercedes about the collision as well.

Wow, 3 prangs in 6 weeks, that's bl00dy unlucky, if as the saying goes ( thing's happen in threes) that should be you done forever now, (hopefully) :)

Bad luck ; I'd certainly leave the truck incident in the hands of insurers , thats what you pay for if the other side is being argumentative , and if they do have CCTV then it should PROVE who was at fault - make sure your insurer gets sight of it .

Re Mr C63 ; if he's well enough off to pay for the damage himself ( and avoid his already punitive insurance going even higher ) then get it quoted for to be repaired by MB at the same time as the other damage and then give him the option to either pay or go through insurance - still report it to your own insurer , in fact you can put it in as a claim , and if he then wants to pay back your insurer rather than go through his , he's at liberty to do just that .

Hopefully the bumper scratch will be sorted quietly in amongst the other repairs .

They say these things happen in threes , so hopefully he's had his quota for this car now .

Oh , now go and buy him front and rear facing dash cams .

You don't need to help the C63 guy go off piste insurance-wise. I fell for this twice and ended up going through insurance after being f***** around. He is at fault, not you. Tell him to go through insurers.

Great gift idea. Yes his insurance said leave this to us. I also don't trust the c63 guy but he is his neighbour so he can't get away.

Regarding 'the other party has CCTV evidence'.

It's a little known fact that many insurers do not actually check the footage submitted to them.

Professional scammers know that and submit random mp4 files downloaded from the Internet.

The insurer will then automatically rule on their favour 'because they have CCTV footage' supporting their version of events.

Sounds odd but happened to someone I know.

The advice is to always insist on getting a copy and viewing the CCTV footage for yourself.
