New Car Sales At Best Level Since 2008

Mercedes should announce there annual sales soon will be interesting to see how they fared.

Will China be more than US market for the first time, if they continue there growth it could have happened but likely to be in 2013.

New car sales are heavily dependent model cycles and new cars being teleased. With the new A class Mercedes can expect a good year

Is this sales or registrations? And if so what is the difference in numbers I wonder..

Records set for MB. 4.5% of the market. Record sales in most segments. This is in the UK.

Heavily down in many other countries. UK strangley bucking the trend! Registrations by manufacturers, directly or indirectly, suspected to be up significantly.

Watch this space for a future glut of low mileage nearly new cars, in turn hammering values...

"Mercedes-Benz has recorded its best-ever new car registrations market share in the UK, according to figures released today by the SMMT.

The company’s record-breaking 4.5 percent market share was posted in 2012 with the C-Class Coupé, the SLK-Class, E-Class Cabriolet, CLS-Class Coupé and the S-Class each leading their respective market segments. For the second year in a row Mercedes-Benz has seen double-digit growth.
While the record year was led by spectacular performances from core models within the Mercedes-Benz range – including the C-Class, which finished the year as the ninth overall best-selling car in 2012 – the AMG performance division of Mercedes-Benz also set new records. AMG posted its best ever year in the UK with registrations rising by 119.6 percent, making it the fastest growing performance brand in the UK.
The S-Class finished 2012 as the Number One luxury car in the UK – capturing a substantial 30.5 percent share of its segment. Strong sales of the smart fortwo led to a rise of 11.3 percent for the year with a total of 5,616 cars registered in 2012.
In total, Mercedes-Benz UK registered 91,006 cars in 2012, a rise of 12.1 percent – making it one of the most successful years ever recorded outperforming the overall new car market, which increased by 5.3 percent."

AMG increase a bit distorted as all of new C class coupe are AMGs

Odd isnt it. You get this news and then Honda announce they are cutting 800 jobs in Swindon. About 20% of the workforce. I think it is Europe where they are struggling though.

Not odd at all - do honda produce a car you would purchase ?

Hasn't the asset write down on company expenditure just changed from £25,000pa to £250,000pa??

I bet that has helped shift a few units as companies are allowed to write it off against tax.
I got an email from Lombard explaining the new allowances and how they could help fund some new metal. Wish I had kept it now and read the details properly.
