New CLS Mirrors + backlights On 06 CLS

I hate my mini mirrors on the CLS so I have looked into fitting the new ones with the funky indicators to my car.

Looks like the motors are the same but obviously the glass and housing differ what I cant establish is if the triangular bit they attach to is the same ie the mirror body mount plate - anyone know pls ?

Also are the bodies available pre painted ?

I am also going to get a quote on the backlights as they look really nice with the twin row leds - however I suspect they will cost a small fortune

One of my neighbours has the facelift and looking at it, the answer is yes the mount is the same. Having paid over £800 for a new mirror which was without painting I suspect it will be expensive. I presume yours will be heated, autodimming etc. with so much electrics in the mirrors they are stupidly expensive!!

I wondered about changing the grilles on mine to facelfit, but to be honest I feel this facelift was purely for the sake of it. I actually prefer the old mirrors as they are more curvy and it keeping with the design of the car (IMHO). I also don't see why they have put squares exhausts on a curvy car - they suite the ML but not the CLS.

What exactly is different with the rear lights then?

I imagine in a year, eBay will be the place to pick them up.

The mirror gubbins are the same its just the glass and body I know this however I cant (yet) establish the car door mount plate - I have asked MB who will come back (soonish I hope)

My AMG rear lights have one row of red led lights that look nice - the new ones ALL have 2 rows and its a fical point but I really like them - Im guessing £600 odd the pair if so its a none starter but lets see.

ah, I see - kep the same internals and just swap housings and mirror glass.

I will keep my eyes open to see what the rear lights looks like. I also understand the reversing lights are LEDs now, although I was not aware that mine were not LEDs!!!

Apparently the rear light LED's (I assume the indicators, but could be the tail lamps) light up as arrows. Anyone got any pictures of this?

I wouldn't call the mirrors on mine, mini, mine is a 57 plate though. In fact they are so large you get, together with the pillar, a limited view of the road to the right of the front, thus limiting views of kerbs particularily on roundabouts.

Well it is definitely later than yours, but see the pictures in Gallery and compare.

The lamps are about £170+ vat each.

Please check these numbers though as the succession number doesn't follow th efootnote and vin numbers logically.

Got backlights at £157 + vat BUT MB HQ wont gtee all thats needed are the back lights and that its a 1 for 1 swap - really helpfull

On the basis that they should fit I have ordered them - if they dont fit I dont have to buy them

Mirrors - shell and glass and base plate are required - just getting prices now BUT again no "official" upgrade data exists so the dealer cant gtee a quick fit

I will be interested to see how you get on. I know the indicators in the mirrors have an arrow shape but I did not know about the rear lights as well.

Looking at my neighbours car, the rears look identical from the outside - I presume it is the LED parts inside the lens that are different. Surely you will need to buy some of these as well?

MB had already queried it and are sure its ok - it maY GIVE A BULB OUT SIGN THOUGH !!

Mirrors require case (obs black pre colour) glass and base at £133 + vat per side

You can get round the bulb out warning with a 5 pence resistor.

Yep Im aware but it worried the MB tech - I would only mod the CLS at MB as they gtee it all and any subsequent issues are covered also - plus they are "looking after me" to a certain extent

Good luck, keep us posted. Intrigued to see how the LED rear lights and arrow mirrors will look. Are you going for the new front grill too?

If you're not sure what the new front grille looks like it has 2 bars instead of 4. I guess it's supposed to look sportier.

My grill is a 3 bar AMG one so I wont want to change that really, the back lights are same as the ones I have but the lower lights are led on mine only the top row are led.

The indicators are not really arrows just arrow ish shaped - just waiting on confirmation and its all go

Saw a new CLS the other day, rear lights look very nice. They light up in an arrow shape with two rows of LEDs on each side of the arrow.

The square exhaust tips were very lexus though.
