CLS 500:
4663cc bi-turbo
408hp
600Nm (1,800 to 3,500rpm)
31.4 mpg Combined
209g/km

CLS 63:
5461cc bi-turbo
525hp
700Nm (1,750 to 5,000rpm)
28.5 mpg Combined
231g/km

CLS350CDi (for comparison):
2987cc turbo

CLS 500 seems like a 'good' idea :)

Impressive figures(if they're realistically achieveable:rolleyes:),the cls63 does about 6mpg more than my cls500:eek::o

Some very good figures.

Lots of very good figures on many new cars, Focus/320d come to mind.

I'm looking to buy a CLS cdi facelife 2009ish, but the MPG of these models are keeping me on the fence, (520d/177 being the other side)

If the older CLS MPG/Emmisions were the same as the new CLS cdi, the fence issue would be gone.

I have just bought a BMW 520D 163bhp (it was sold to me as a 177 hence it is going ack). It is the most boring car in the world plus, unless you do not have kids or like cleaning up sick, it is not recommended!
Cheers
Chris

Those mpg figures are funny.

...

How did they manage to sell it as a 177 ?

Take a look at this below, not the fasted car, but the MPG/Emmisions !!!
.
CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY4 CylinderkW 150 7G-Tronic Plus automatic with tipfunction & speedtronic cruise control£45,600 Acceleration 0-62 mph:7.5 sTop speed:150 mphFuel consumption ***Urban:44.1 mpg Extra-urban:64.2 mpg Combined:54.3 mpg CO2 emissions *** combined:135 g/km

All these figures are measured on a rolling road ar sumthink of the like, car makers can gig the car to show great figures to make sales, real life figures are better, you can search the webb and get some real life figures, they can be a help.

Take 10% off of what the figures say & you won't be far out,i.e. the combined mpg for my cls is 25mpg & i average 22mpg over a tank;)

Very impressive, but I'll wait untill I've driven and listened to the car before I get excited. If it sounds like a London taxi and has the turbo lag of a Scooby...then I'll be less impressed. The figures just dont tell you that!;)
