Gidday gang!

Paul here, I'm a self confessed petrol-head with many cars and tales to tell as I am sure many of you may also be! :D

Anyway, I am about to pick up my latest aquisition in just under a few hours now... a 51-plate CL55 AMG

Been searching for one for quite a while now but not found the right one but when I clapped eyes on this and checked it out it ticked all the correct boxes!

I am of course still very much learning about these machines. The ABC work I believe has already been carried out, and the service history is all in place. The ONLY fault I managed to find is a smallest bit of paint bubbling where the O/S rear roof pillar meets the rear wing/boot. I understand these cars had some sort of corrosion warranty with them right? Anyway it appears (at the moment!!!) to be the only thing I can fault but time will tell speaking from experience! :wallbash: lol

Any further info would be great, as a regular car forum poster I'll certainly be trapesing around the forum on my quest for knowledge lol.

A few years ago I bought a car from a place near Tonbridge that did Kleeman conversions so I intend also looking at this and seeing what can be squeezed out of these already amazing cars!

It will be nice to speak with you soon.....
Pauly

welcome to the forum, im not too far from colchester so let me know if you want to meet and say hello.

My GF lives in Colchester, and im there most weekends if you need someone to check that the AMG engine is working correctly :D

EDIT: That CL55 doesnt have a AMG front bumper on it by the looks of it!?!

I noticed there was something different about it but saw another one like it also and so didnt carry on questioning it. Looks like a CL one no?

INSURANCE wise..... looking at £650 for a 36yr old with loadsa no claims bonus and good area etc etc.... thought it was pretty good! Big excess of £600 though

Very nice too - I like the black wheel/polished rim look.

Welcome :-)

Yes welcome to the CL AMG Club.

I'm glad the ABC problems have been sorted out, very very expensive to have fixed. What exactly was done ? As far as the corrosion on the Pillar is concerned, you have to own the car for six months before MB will look at it and then if it does not have FMBSH they won't help you + it's over 8 years old etc etc, they will do there best to wriggle out of it.

The Roof is Aluminium and the wing is steel and for some reason they react very badly to water., it's quite a serious job to have it done correctly. Good luck.

Hi Paul
Welcome to the forum
Car looks fantastic I'm sure you'll enjoy driving it

Ok spent the day in TRUE ANORAK style detailing the Merc. You get to know every inch of your car when you paw over it slowly so it was a double-hatted benefit!

Picture below is after some SERIOUS mopping, buffing, sealing in with Collinite then some R222 Carnuba for that special 'Wet look'.....

Still not gone through the manual to see what everything does yet.... loving the car except for an annoying quiet yet apparent buzzing-electrical like sound coming from behind the dash when you either start & run the car or first turn it off. If you sit quietly you can hear it behind the centre console. Will have to investigate but its kinda annoying! lol

ello mate how are ya nice car, i live in braintree, got a load of friends in Colchester, was having a mini benz friend meet in nandos,

Cool I work in Braintree!

Just found the Merc Specialist round the corner from the office...... handy! lol

Your motor's looking great :-)

The noise may be the air pump? Mine has got air suspension (I assume yours does?) and I hear the compressor firing up from time to time behind the dash. It only lasts a few seconds but is noticeable in what is otherwise a very quiet cabin.

Thanks mate, not sure it is that though as it is apparent for pretty much the whole time the car is 'ignition or/and engine on'

It's due a service in 1500 miles so I may get it checked out then as I intend to ask for a 'general check-over' so ensure a clean bill of health hopefully.

I absolutely love the car, the look the drive.......... everything! Chuffed to bits. Of all my previous cars, (and I've had some show winners and stunners!) my favourite car I've ever owned was still my lil ol 190e..........
.............TILL NOW!

I can honestly say this has surpassed it and I am hooked!

You sound like a very happy man :-)

Sounds like it's not the pump - it only comes on for a few seconds at a time to top up the pressure

:bannana:mercs and nandos!!!!!!

ok can i pay to come?

lol

harwich here.... loving my e280cdi...
