Kleemann C-class
I just had my testdrive for the new Eclass Saloon and Coupe..very nice cars..the Saloon was the E350CDI while the coupe was a E350CGI...coupe feels great..the engine is glorious..although I was more impressed with the new Eclass..ride,comfort is so much nicer..Although car is bigger than outgoing model, but it does not feel like it..Very quiet as well with the new Blue Efficiency line up..

Showroom had a black coupe with full black leather with white stiching..all the toys..it is so tempting..the brochures dont do it justice..although I am not too keen on the rear panel design..seems like a 1950's design cut..rather it have a CLS style streamline from front to back..all in all a changed perception to the new E class..

I went down to my dealer this morning. I have to admit that I thought the car was very unimpressive from the press-release pictures, but now I have seen the beasts in the flesh, they look a LOT nicer!! Interior is good too.

Now waiting for the estate...

Did you talk figures?? £££££££££...:D

did not talk figures..not ready to change my car yet..just wanted to test drive to find out for myself about the big hype of the new E class..the W204 is nothing compared with the quality of the new W212...

I spied the 212 in brooklands, much better in flesh. Would want a 250cdi for the performance + economy comprimise. "Autocar" have said it drives better than an E60 5 series yet has all the nice MB qualities. The XF apparently still trumps it but with the engines their reliability is a big unknown. The 212 uses mechanicals proven in the 211 and 204.

I'm mildly disappointed, not yet visited the dealer to drool over the metal yet but I was hoping the E coupe would be more E than it is C, but no, they've done what they did with the CLK - there's no Airmatic DC option.

I guess it keeps the differential between that and the CL a bit wider.

Both cars look beautiful though.

I tasked the salesman on why it was being called an E-Class coupe and not the new CLK. He clearly was waiting for that one, but still looked a little uncomfortable when trying to explain that yes, indeed, it is a 204-based coupe - but remember that the CLK was also based on the C-Class!

Yes, but they didn't try to pass it off as an E...

Anyway, both versions look rather well, much nicer in the flesh as I have already said, and the quality of the finish on both cases I think is excellent.

They gave me some brochures and the DVD presentation pack which I looked at this morning. Very slick! And in 5.1 audio to boot.

Not sure about the new dark brown paint scheme (yet to see that in the flesh), but the black interior with the chocolate leather and dark satin-finish wood looks very :cool::cool:. Very coffee lounge.

Forgot to add...

Although the car itself elicited a very positive response from me, the same can't be said of the local dealer.

When I went down there on Saturday (at their invitation), they couldn't have been less helpful. I talked to the one bloke for a few minutes but he made it bloody obvious that I was keeping him from something far more important. No drive offered, etc etc.

So when I am next in a position to make a purchase, guess where I won't be going!!

Do make the effort to write to the Dealer Principal and let him/her know now why their dealership won't be getting your future order. Should brighten the disinterested sales drone's day no end :D

A little off-topic, but marginally relevant...

I do have some previous in this respect.

When I was somewhat younger than I am now, and I was looking for my first new car, I looked into various options in the supermini range. I looked at Metro , Nova, Fiesta and Polo. Did very well at all dealers except Gilders on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield. I went in there with my brother as I had done at all other dealers that day. We looked round at the Polo showroom cars and at Golfs too. We were there 20 minutes and not one of the sales people got out of their seats to approach us. We looked at each other in puzzlement, and watched the sales people looking at us without bothering to acknowledge our presence. Exit stage left.

After I picked up my brand new Nova from the Vauxhall dealer, guess where I drove first?

yet they will go crying when they are unemployed due to their ****ty attitude

I went into my local dealer on Friday afternoon to see the new coupe (I thought I'd beat the rush at the weekend) and they couldn't do enough to help me. They had me out on a test drive in the new E350CDi within 15 minutes without me asking. They don't know me as I've never bought a car from them. I was really impressed with their service, they even called me today to ask if I'd like to take a futher test drive (as I had left saying I wasn't overly impressed with the performance but the roads were very busy so it was hard to tell). Yes they just want to sell cars but at least they are going about it the right way.

Dropped in at the local dealer for a look, I had a 210 and a 211 but on first impressions I am unlikely to have a 212... it sure is ugly  .....

However, I did say that about the 211 when I first saw it, a year later and I had come round and spent the next six years driving one...
