The lovely ribbed Grey AMG mats that came with the car were in excellent condition apart from the drivers which with a 3 inch hole in it (high heel I suspect) is FUBAR'd

As MB no longer makes these for RHD cars (no, really, LHD is still available) and even then MB want me to throw 3 perfectly good mats into the local landfill (I wonder what their CSR dept has to say about this...) I have source some new ones.

Step up to the plate MB Newcastle who were HALF the price of the muppets here at the airport who didn't even have it in stock.

MB branded and not AMG (but then mine isn't an actual AMG, shock horror) but nice black ribbed ones

However, I may not tackle installation myself and defer to an expert
I mean adding any accessory that requires a 5 page installation guide with diagrams and everything in multiple languages must be fraught with danger. Should I do a Risk Assessment......:wallbash:

Worlds gone mad!

If you post your RAMS, (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) we can check to make sure that you are not likely to do something unsafe and have thought about all possible hazards and how to prevent them.
Unfortunately I could go on.

before you start, please bear the following in mind.
1) wear gloves, this will stop any contamination giving you a nasty illness.
2) Ensure your workspace is well ventilated, open a door at least
3) please have a fire extinguisher standing by close to the car, don't forget, there is fuel in a car which can catch fire.
4) Ensure you use body stands and not just a jack.
5) If welding these into place, you must disconnect the battery to prevent damage to electrical circuits
6) allow enough time to do the job safely, perhaps a couple of days with a rest in between.
7) Take pictures before you remove the old items so you know where the new ones go back.

Following the above you should be able to install your items to a professional finish

I done two permit to work sheets today not doing another.

Appropriate PPE wear is also required :)

I feel safer already, thanks chaps.

Will review Will, don some goggles and hold my breath (which I probably can for as long as it takes to install this 'mod')
Wish me luck for tomorrow

On a more serious note I also have to repair the two small, holes in the carpet.....seen some kits on Amazon
What did the prior owners get up to

I think you should get the AMG mats and just convert to left hand drive.
It would look so much smarter.

Why didn't I think of that?

Cheers,
Will weigh up the relative complexity, hazards and environmental impact

And to think, I connected an iPod without a second of thought.
Must have dodged a bullet there

Just turn the LHD drivers side one upside down, Should do the trick lol

May I sugest you take some advice,as this will help you I am sure.first make a booking with the nice people at Mercedes workshop, they have quite a lot of experience in fitting new carpets, the cost I expect will be quite reasonable,i estimate the chap will have to have some assistance, but at the small cost of £140 per hour that would be a small cost to see the job completed correctly. Pat

You should buy an American spec car.
DANGER...WARNING....dont drink the oil, petrol, coolant.....crazy.
I purchased a 44 magnum revolver from the American Rod And Gun Club.
That had a warning on the barrel...keep out of the reach of children....or something to that effect.

At a gun and knife show in Maine many years ago people thought I'd lost it completely - there was a 20mm cannon on a tripod, complete with a belt of live shells - and a Visa sign perched on top. I just cracked up laughing, completely lost it - the Yanks were perplexed!!:D:D:D

Hard hat should be worn to prevent head injury from underside of steering wheel, when inspection of accurate positioning of mats is interrupted by pedestrian perambulatory trip hazard occasioned by extended legs of installer(s).

^ You are forgetting the mandatory yellow flash jacket and ear defenders to complete the required safety equipment.

How much were the mats Jon?:D
