New Member in Scotland

Hello,

Just purchased my first Mercedes......a 3yr old silver E350 Cdi Sport with the 7g tronic gearbox that I'm collecting next Saturday. It's only done 18,000 miles but will be adding around 30,000 per year to this. Hoping it will be as reliable as my old Saab 93 TTid that hasn't missed a beat.

Always wanted an E Class since I drove my bosses old E200 in 1997.

Taken some time to read up on the 3 litre diesel and the 7g tronic gearbox before buying but be good to know if there are any recommendations from members as to what I should look out for and any preventative maintenance tips that I should consider.

For the members based in Scotland be good to hear if there are any Scottish meets planned this spring or summer?

Carnoustie's a bit of a run to Polmadie just for a curry!

I've had mine since the end of last year only and am still getting used (or not) to some of it's ways. I like the steering but not the brakes. Nothing like as good as the old 211 before it. Consumption is much worse as well. Oh well...that's progress.

Yep, thats a bit of trek although my daily commute was Carnoustie to Livingston a few years ago.

Thanks for the view on your 350. Where do you get yours serviced out of interest. My expectation on MPG is low 40's at best although i'll do a lot of motorway mileage. Have you had any issues with yours at all?

Most routine servicing; brakes, engine, etc I'll do myself. The gearbox is due a fluid change and possibly the brake fluid and it will go to the Mazzonis in Port Glasgow for this. I've only had the thing six months or so. No issues as yet.
