New ML270 owner here - advice on an indy?

Hello all! Just entered the wild wild world of MB with my first purchase, a 2001 ML270CDI. It's here to serve a purpose for 6-12 months, so it's a slightly leggy one that may need a couple of things doing which I have na slush fund for.

First question... does anybody know of a good indy in Hertfordshire? I have 12 months MOT etc but would quite like to have someone give it a thorough going over in case anything has been missed.

Secondly, could you point me to any discussions on power remaps? I have read of one that can increase bhp and mpg and would be interested.
