Well not only have i decided to keep my beautiful C280 V6 i have bought myself a rotary polisher, an angle grinder type to get the beautiful rust free body looking pristine. Maguire's cutting compound and polish ordered too. Roll on some great polishing days. :D

Nice purchase :)

Best learn how to use it on an old banger, as you can burn through paint with those quicker than you might realise ;)

Don't worry about burning through the paint, I've used a DAS 6 pro dual action for years with great results then it gave up the ghost. I put a thread on here and to be fair it was Dieselman that convinced me to go the rotary route. When I bought and first used mine I realised what a complete idiot I'd been listening to all those on the various forums talking about burning through paint and probably never had a rotary in their hands and just perpetuating internet myth.

It's the best investment I ever made I can do the car in a third of the time it took me with the das 6 and get far better results, each and to their own with polishes but Menzerna works well on MB paint I find megs takes too much working but 105 and 205 do give good results I admit.

All you have to remember is keep the machine moving ALL the times, don't be sparing with the polish and remember the edge of the pad speed is greater than the center so you can go through the clear coat on edges if you are not careful and meet edge to edge. If in doubt tape them up first using the pro blue tape.

Happy polishing :thumb:

I guess both I and my brother imagined all that missing paint on his car when he mopped it himself. How strange for us both to hallucinate like that. :fail

This was 2 decades ago, so maybe they're slower or something. :dk:

What did you get?
I bought a meguires G220 dual action polisher for £200 a couple of years ago, best bit of kit i ever bought.
