Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy at work. As a whole the driving experience is very good.
On the negative side there are a few rattles from the roof which I suppose are to be expected and some wind noise too which I didn't notice when I test drove one. Also I still think the diesel sounds a little agricultural but that's just me.
On the positive side it picks up well on acceleration from 1500rpm which I've been impressed with and the 7sp auto as expected is very smooth. Its comfortable, quick and on a cross country drive from Telford to Crewe last week I thought it handled very well and in my opinion I think it looks great especially in black and the red stitching adds a sporty feel to the interior.

Have noticed quite a few of these driving around recently - the best looking SLK yet, especially from the front

Was never really keen on the R170, but this looks great and from the front you'd never think of it as a 'baby' SL type, more a real Mercedes-Benz
