After a lot of debate as to what to do about my c250td exhaust I finally got round to getting something done with it.

I didn't fancy paying £150+ for a standard mild steel backbox:confused: so I have been searching for a aftermarket one at a good price.
I finally found a Remus (twin piped) stainless back box on a clearance offer & hurriedly ordered it.
I ended up getting a mild steel middle section to replace all the pipework after the cat.

I was a little worried that it may alter the sound of the exhaust but at the price I got it for I couldn't complain too much:devil:

Turned out after having it fitted I had nothing to worry about as it’s no different in sound than it was.

Looks great. I got the same fitted to my W202. Cost £250 fitted and mine was loud which I wasn't too keen on but it did look nice.

Very nice! almost looks OEM! (C36)

Lose the mudflaps though mate!

when i had a remus fitted to my beemer, it took almost 5,000 miles before it wore in and sounded great! good choice.

I sold a near new Remus rear W202 box on Ebay for near £100 or less.....At the time I did regret letting it go as they really are very nice exhausts.

I went with the AMG C36 box, bit when I think back, the Remus one was just as nice if not nicer and the chrome trim was much longer than the C36 one.

On their website, looking at close to 300 quid

I didn't pay that:D
It was listed in the clearance section. Just looked again & I must have got the last one at the clearance price :)

After all the time it had taken me to sort out which exhaust I wanted and to finally decide I was happy with it this had to happen.
I managed to hit something in the road late last night:mad: (not sure what as I didn’t see anything & stopped and nothing was obvious) which managed to dent/hole the front silencer/cat plus it managed to partially rip off the cat heatsheild.

Took it today to try and get things sorted out again.
The first thing done was to remove the heatsheild that has torn round the bolt holes so a easy fix when I can find/make some washers of the right size.
Next problem was the damaged cat/front box. After looking at the cost of a new front pipe last time I knew that a new cat really wasn’t an option.

I ended up getting a custom stainless pipe made up that joins onto my original exhaust.
When I got back to the garage it had all been done for me.:)

Somehow they have managed to make the tailpipes stick out further than before.
I’m not sure if it spoils the look or not:o.
If I decide I don’t like it with the pipes sticking out quite as far I will take it back and ask them to shorten it slightly.
(in fairness when I had my remus fitted I would have originally preferred it to be a little further out than it was)

Overall the removal of the cat hasn’t really altered much. Maybe the turbo spins up a little quicker (but that could be psychological) but it has deepened the exhaust note by quite a bit.
Still silent at idle (apart from the tractor under the bonnet:devil:) & not much louder when running under load but defiantly deeper.:D

Looks good, it is sitting slightly to far out though IMO - I had the same trouble with my C43 one. If you are getting it tucked back best do it asap while your stilll familar with the garage :)

Do you use the towbar? if you dont, lose it :)!

I've got some wheels that would look lovely on your car Quantum ... ;)

TBH I had a measure before and its only 1/2 inch to a inch or so too far out so I'll go back some time next week and get them to adjust it.

Yep the towbar gets used on a weekly basis so cant loose it:o

I know, maybe I should have gone bigger than 16's :obut with some of the lanes I have to drive on I realy darn't go any bigger or they would get trashed.:( There's plenty of pot holes up here. Some big enough to loose a car in:crazy:

I got the C36 box on mine to sit further back so that the tips stick out. Mine look the same as the Remus ones on this C250TD, i wanted those AMG's to show :)
