Any info on prices and options for the new S Class yet, my local dealer has been sending a email for 3 weeks now.

Do an online request for s class brochure from MBUK, I got mine 2 weeks ago full details.

gary

I did and got nothing (in fact I think it said it would send details when available), I will try again. I sent my local dealer a email a couple of minutes ago asking why the the sales man had not sent the details (I also asked for a trade in price for the CLK, as my wife hates it) hopefully he will get a kick up the bcakside now. BTW I have fallen in love with the new S Class.

I have already decided same colour same wheels :).

See one for real and then decide if this car is your True love or some sort of lust :)

The real car is like some sort of American Maybach with ugly wheel arches. Give it a few months and the list prices will be dropping like a stone.

There is one in Mercedes Dartford Show room.........

i agree with TONY M, the arches are a little oversized but other than that the overall styling i find quite clean and sharp, could be a marmite car, you'll either like it or you won't? :)

Those arches simply look wrong to me, the car equivalent of flared trousers. Apart from that I quite like the looks.

I love the look of that! Still doesnt matter what i think as I couldnt dream of affording one :(

New years resoloution.

Play lottery :)

I think it is a beautiful car. Really stylish. But the thought of spending £70K+ on a car that will be supported by a third rate MB dealership network is not appealing.

Saw one on the road in Swiss Cottage.. it does look very impressive and certainly made me look in awe. Compared to its predecessor.. its got a nice style to it.

I hate Marmite, but i love the car :) .. like Thmsshaun.. i need to play for those magic 6 numbers ;)

That dash screams "new 7 series" to me, I hope that isn't the shape of things to come.

Unfortunately it is.

I believe the COMAND screen has had to be raised because of the viewing angle and European legislation.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I wanted a saloon then it is the car for me with the CDI engine.

I would obviously have a demonstrator for a couple of days before making a final decision, but all the journalists seem to like it?

Good luck with your decision.

Silver????

John

I've only seen one so far and I think it's gorgeous. It was parked up so I circled around it. To me it is very "car-shaped" with no particularly radical design cues - even the arches blend in seamlessly. IMO the 7 Series doesn't even come close. But then we all have our own individual perceptions.

I work in the square mile and I see loads of S Classes as they tend to be used to cart big cheeses from one power meeting to the next. I'm sure it won't be long before there are loads of the new ones.

Hmm, but that does not explain why the new CLS has the screen in the "classic" position. I would have thought that having the screen so high would be more dangerous as you'd be more tempted to look at it.

:) I forget the actual angle that is stipulated and some folks would be angry if I quoted it, but I am sure that my COMAND and the CLS does not comply with the latest legislation being published.

I'll write fifty lines if I'm wrong :)

I don't believe that there is any European legislation as yet regarding screen placement - the change is being driven by our litigation-happy neighbours from over the pond. Too many liability claims based on "I didn't see XXXXX, was looking down at the screen that the wicked manufacturer fitted in my car to distract me from driving".......

Mind you, bound to lead to legislation soon

The article I read quoted either 17 or 34 degree's I can't remember which. I genuinely believe it was EU based but I would not disagree with your suggestion. I have never understood how it is illegal to watch a film whilst driving, yet okay to look at the navigation screen. I do however totally agree with the law against watching films etc.

As an aside (and going off topic) the interior design of the 211 is different on US based vehicles. They have a horrible, curved, sloping centre (center :) ) armrest that is capable of taking a larger style cupholder. It is a completely different design and not interchangeable.

Yesterday I took a members advice and sent away for the latest S-class brochure (along with the M-class) it arrived this morning! Impressed or what??

Nope... It is a brochure for the current model and the special edition. I bet a pound to a penny there is a special page on the new S-class that silly me failed to notice :o :o Oh well back to the drawing board.

Regards,
John
