Sorry to be pedantic but it isn't the AMG model - it is a standard model fitted with the optional AMG styling package.

OK, give me a clue.

Look at the width of the offside rear tyre ......

Howard, i think you have got it. LOL

How can you tell the difference between a model with the full bodykit, wheels and lowered suspension when its not running and a proper AMG ....

Obviously engine note would give it away ........

I can tell that it is the standard model with an AMG bodykit because:

1. The photo is from the S-Class launch (specifically the photo of a S350 fitted with the optional AMG bodykit and AMG alloys). I believe that the photo was originally taken in a studio and has been photoshopped in front of a background - in doing so the rear tyre width has been exaggerated.

2. In reality the rear tyre is the same width on the S65 AMG as it is on a standard car fitted with the optional AMG alloys (275 width).

3. The S65 AMG has "V12 Bi turbo" badges on the front wings.

4. Most obvious of all the S65 AMG requires additional cooling and has extra vents in the front spoiler just ahead of the wheels. See below:

There you go then, that wasn't hard was it ...... ;)

Instead of being all smart in your first post on the subject , why not enlighten us as to what to look for .... then we can all be as knowledgeable as you ....

Thanks for pointing out the differences ..... :) I have left you positive rep for being helpful ..... :)

Those interested in the new S Class should grab a copy of this weeks Autocar (with the 4 door Aston on the front).

They absolutely loved it.

Hi DC_insider,
Unfortunately the written word sometimes does not appear in print the way it was intended, I am sure everyone is extremely grateful for the information that you give. Like Howard, I have also given a rep point for your excellent information.

Now go back to the bosses and tell them in no uncertain terms that I WANT AN S-class ESTATE :) :) (I accept it will never happen) thanks again for all your contributions.

John

In my first post I merely pointed out a mistake. It was not in any way an attempt to look smart or be flippant.

However, I find it highly amusing that I am being shouted at to LIGHTEN UP. It appears to me that some members of this form don't like it when it is shown that they have got something wrong.

;) I prefer his Bentley estate.

Funnily enough I was tempted to write to someone and see what will happen to it. I suppose eventually it will be put on display :o

DC_ insider you must try and take some things in life a little less seriously and a bit more tongue in cheek, "GIVE US A CLUE" is an example.

What do you say. To be honest DC_ insider life is to short.
