The real problem is forty years of zero investment but that will all be solved by reducing the speed of drunk/sleeping/careless/stupid drivers.


Oddly enough when they reduced the limit in the Glasgow section from 60 to 40 the death rate increased.

An opposite result was found in California, when they increased the speed limit on the freeway from 55 to 70mph the death toll and the accident rates went down. SO lets up the limits on motorways here by a similar amount and see what happens!!!!

It's no surprise really. I learned to drive in California and was allways amazed at how lethargic 55 seemed. Sadly I left before the abolition of the national 55 limit and the states were left to decide their own limits. Compare that to driving in Germany, where you are by default far more alert.
