New to Electric Polishing

Wiping down with IPA is used when you're correcting paint with the like of a DA or rotary etc and polishing compounds like Megs 105 & 205 etc. Polish residue & oils can be left on the panel & 'fill' swirls effectively giving the effect of having better correction.

Ceramic sealants and quite a few liquid/paste sealants require the paintwork to be 'bare' for application so IPA is a great way to prep it.

How should I use the IPA wipe down? I bought some today from the chemist and was unsure if I need to dilute it down.

Was planning to wipe down a set of alloys I've had refurb'd before putting on Gtechniq C5.

Any advise appreciated.

I don't know what strength you have but I use 99.9% IPA & mix it anywhere between 5:1 & 2:1 with distilled water in a spray bottle.

Just mist it on and let it dwell for 20 or 30 seconds and then wipe off. You can do it 2 or 3 times if you're fussy but assuming the rims have just been painted & have not had any wheel sealant or tyre dressing near them then you'll be fine. A soft microfibre towel can be used to buff off any cloudiness left as the ipa dries off.

Always mix 30% ipa with 70% water for glass, paint and wheel wipe down prior to any crystal lacquer.
