    hi all,
On my way to Scotland to buy a 2002 ml320.
Amg spec, 67000 miles, Fmbsh, immac.
Are there any faults that are common to these I should look out for? ( s class owner for 10 years :) )
    Any advice much appreciated,
    Cheers
    Ray

    Welcome.

Key things to check on these are rust around the tailgate and under the tailgate handle.

Check it runs smoothly, no hint of a misfire, as new HT leads can be expensive, also make sure that its had a plug change, as 12 plugs is quite expensive.

They go through brake pads quite fast, its a big heavy car, so have a look to see that you have reasonable amount remaining.

Check that the front and rear ashtrays work, they quite often get stuck.

Also make sure that all the buttons work, including the electric seats.

Its a facelift so should be much better than the pre2001 cars.

I have only had mine a week, but so far so good, and I really like the drive.

Check for the condition of the interior trim, rust on the exterior panels, worn suspension, rough gear changes and worn brakes.

The ML is no S class so don't expect the ride to be the same.

    Good luck.

    Hello

Had mine 18 months now and love it

As above check all the buttons work, inlcuding the probably unused one (the low range).

Brakes discs / pads do take a hammer so try and check these.

Check for any rust under arches but also under rear handle when you open the boot.

Typical checks for anycar that paint all maches, panels fit, no signs or repair, tyres good, etc etc

Check there are no lights on the dash after you have switched on, try the kickdown does it 'feel' right.

You tend to get a second sence for if its a good one or not, is it private or dealer? If a Dealer try and get a warranty of some sort thrown in.

good luck hope all is well

    Hi,

Don't believe 320///'AMG' spec has uprated brakes....AMG pack outlined below:

"AMG SPORT PACKAGE option newly available for 2001-2002 model year ML's. This package includes: 17" Six Spoke wheels with performance tires, Chrome exhaust tip, and Aerodynamic body styling with integrated foglamps. In 2002, new side-view mirrors with integral turn signals debut, as do clear lens headlights, chrome grille accents, front fog lamps and revised front and rear bumpers. Inside the cabin, vents are added to the rear of the console and electronic push buttons replace the old twist knobs on the climate control system.

The vehicle is also equipped with the Convenience package, Luxury Package, roof rack, power windows, locks, and moonroof, Bose sound system with integrated CD Changer, Keyless Entry Security System, front, side, rear, and head protection curtain airbags, wood dash and interior trim. Touch Shift automanual transmission. Dual-stage front airbags know when to deploy with partial force or full force. All models also feature expanded off-road capabilities with new downhill traction control and a new crawling mode for very slow and steep off-roading."

    Cheers,
