Hello to one and all :)

1st post, still a hell of a lot of reading to do here!

I've fallen in love with the W123 - 230E so before I splash the cash it seemed this would be a good place to start boning up on the future wife.. I mean car!:D

Hello

Hi,welcome to the forum:thumb:

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

I've fallen in love with the W123 - 230E so before I splash the cash it seemed this would be a good place to start boning up on the future wife.. I mean car!:D

Hello Endz, welcome :)

May I ask why the W123 230e in particular?

I first noticed this car on Wheeler Dealers and immediately wanted one. Having bought it (took me months to find the one I wanted) I sat down to watch a repeat of Wheeler Dealers and saw I'd bought the wrong one. DOH! I'd bought a W124 230e by mistake. :o

Best of luck with your search :D

I actually drove one back in 1987 when I was a trainee motor mechanic. It also was pretty much identical to the one on Wheeler Dealers :thumb: but just coming up on it's mot back then.
I've been in a few high mileage W123 taxis across europe over the years and they always provided a sane space amidst the chaos.
Then of course it turned up in the Top Gear Botswana special  and most recently I spotted a pimped out model (chrome arch rust trap trims and tints) as pretty much the star of a recent pop video for a Childish Gambino track name of "Heartbeat"

I've been looking at S60 lolvos for nearly 18mths as I fancied some waft in my life but they don't make me want them the way the old merc does.
I don't do the mileage to justify a diseasel (which I currently drive) and I really do need a car that makes me smile without having to get it up on 2 wheels.
I also think they're strongly engraved on my psyche with all the film/tv appearances they've made and continue to make.
Now I'm rambling . Must continue reading up on things to look for when viewing a potential buy:cool:.
