Just thought I'd say a quick hello to everyone !

Am now the proud owner of my first Merc, it's my Dads previous car. He had it from brand spanking new, and its an unmarked and totally pristine...

2000 / W reg, C240 V6 Elegance, totally standard (except for a nice new head unit) with only 36000 Miles on the clock and full Merc history !

Looks like all you lot are worth knowing for advice and general Merc chit chat, so I'm looking forward to joining in on the banter.

Would love to post a couple of pics like everyone else seems to have done but have no idea how...All tips welcome !

Ben.

Hiya...welcome to the 'club'. This is a great little forum with some really knowledgeable folk.

Welcome. Nice sounding motor!

Hi 14ben, welcome.

Your car sounds like a dream find, low mileage and you know all the history.

Cheers guys, wasn't so much of a find as it was a hand me down, but I cant complain !

It's a lovely car and I was lucky enough to manage blagging a respray of all 4 arches courtesy of Merc, and at no cost to myself a couple of months ago which I was real happy about.

Touch wood it will be no probs from here on ! Such a shame that there was a period where the paint work seems to have suffered. Looking at some other poss, my car wasn't the only one bothered by a little rust !

Hi Ben,

Sounds like a lovely car, hope you enjoy it!

Hope you look after it too.. they're a rare find nowadays with that kind of mileage/condition.

Cheers,

Gaz

Hi there 14Ben and a very warm welcome from me to the club, a very nice V6 C240 you got there and at that milliage its virtually brand new.

Uploading pics is very simple upload your pic to Imageshack resize image to 640x480 for this forum and then browse the pic from your PC. Finaly click host it!

http://imageshack.us/

Then get the direct URL code link usually the last or second last link and post the link here through the yellow button

Simple

P.S dont forget to block out the registration plates for phishing reasons

Anyone noticed where getting allot of W202 newbies this last week isnt it.

Thanks Gaz,

It's not quite a C43 but I'm treating it as my new baby and it will be very well looked after !

One thing I was considering was a set of 17" AMG's. Does anyone know weather the car will be / look too high on these, without putting lowering springs on, which I didn't really want to do ?

I don't know if this is gona work but touch wood some pics of my car will be underneath !

It works but post as direct links instead and use a size such as 640x480 (Imageshack has the option to do so)

But a nice looking moter there still, good stuff

Also a very nice plate you got there, unfortunatly you should block it out first before posting to prevent phishing

Nice car.

Can't beat a nice low miler IMO. I can think of worse things to have handed down!

WIth the full history, it's probably worth keeping it up just to make sure you can take the car back to MB everytime their shoddy paintwork gives in to the dreaded R word.

Once you have the hang of posting pics, have a look round for an alternative to image shack - the pop ups are a pain.

As above - cloning is a risk - blank your plates if you wish, but not compulsory.

Cheers Gurpz and Graham,

Completely forgot about the plates ! Should I remove the pics, and whats this Phishing stuff you both mentioned ?

You'd never guess I was a beginner at this huh ! ;p

Do agree but its excellent when used with direct links rather than the boxs. Photobucket is another one again good if used as direct links

Never heard it called Phishing before, but cloning can be a problem.

Someone wants to clone a plate and uses pictures from the internet to do it. Fraud, crime, London congestion charge dodging, it sounds a little unlikely but does go on.

We advise you blank the plate, but you do not have to.

It was also my personal suggestion re Image Shack, nothing compulsory. If you displayed larger pics so we didn't need to follow links the pop ups would not be a problem anyway.

Use the testing section if you need to experiment posting.

Welcome Ben!!

Looks like a nice car - you're lucky to get a hand-me-down like that - I just got silver hair!! That's right, silver, not grey, silver. ;) :D

Thanks Ady and Bobby,

Appreciate the welcomes ! Silver hair sounds great, might have to get me some of that ! Will come with experience (cough . . . age) no doubt.

Ben I know it may be a bit early in the day to ask about mods but have you thought about any apart from the 17' AMG Alloys. Alot of people including myself recomend the Avantgarde Grill. Its available fairly cheaply from ebay these days with excellent OEM qaulity:

Deffinatly worth a look theres a step by step guide also on this forum on how to fit it also

Grill looks very tasty Gurpz, has anyone actually bought from that seller and are there any others around worth considering ? As for the 17's, any views on whether it will look silly without lowering springs because wont it make the car higher up ?
