Last night was pretty cold, so I got in the wagon (a 2004 W203) and turned on the screen demister. Much to my total surprise there was HOT air available before the temp gauge got off its stop. I guess it must have an electric preheater that kicks in before the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Yet another little bonus.
A little question for W203 owners. Where should the first aid kit be located? I have looked everywhere, but I think the previous owner removed it.
Not too fussed, I just wondered.
Thanks in anticipation...........

Yes, there is an heater that kicks in at temp <7decC. You can override this in the cluster menu...

Do you have the saloon or estate? Estates have the kit in the nearside cubby (access button marked withn a green cross!) in the load area. No idea for the saloon

First aid kit is in the LH cubbyhole in the boot (in the estate anyway)

the release catch has a green cross on the top.

Beat you to it!! :D

A heater - must look for that on my SC!

First Aid kit on the SC is LH side inside the boot in its marked storage area (has a little cross on it)

Thanks for the replies. I dont think I can have a first aid kit. I have looked everywhere (I have the saloon).
I really MUST get round to reading the (extensive) manual one day.

The handbook for my new Vito said the first aid kit (and warning triangle) were inside one of the front doors, but they're not. In fact there's no storage compartment there at all?!

Actually, that comment has sparked a thought. I havent yet looked at the underside of the boot lid where the warning triangle is. Will look tonight.

On my W203 saloon it was on the rear parcel shelf behind the head rest (off-side), with the green cross on it - a catch was there to open it.

Mine wasn't there either, it's meant to be tucked in isn't it, in the drivers door. I had to go and buy one from the stealership...

I'm glad it wasn't just me!

I thought all M-Bs included these (as basic safety equipment), from new. The handbook certainly says they should be there, but no doubt there's an exclusion clause somewhere saying "not in all markets" or similar.

Mine 2003 model is in the boot L/H bin fastened on with a velcro strap. It is in a bag as oppose to a box that was on my W202. Cheaper version I think?

Mine is the same as Lexuscol.

2003 model, in boot in left boot well. But first aid kit is black, not green

Pre-heaters are great. Unfortunately I think mine is faulty 'cos it absolutely stinks when it is running (it's a diesel powered one). It also sounds like a jet engine and continues to chuck out fumes when the car is turned off

Mine is in the same position as 'robert.saunders' W203 salon on the rear parcel shelf. I've never actually ventured into it to see what is inside though! might be interesting :D

On our 202 it is in a little cubby hole on the parcel shelf. The car didn't have one when we bought it so I got one from e-bay.Brand new for the princely sum of 99p.
Our 2 year old also stuffs her tele-tubbie toys in the same cubby hole!

As an aside I bought my 1990 300TE in February this year, the First Aid kit was there and had never been touched, it still has all the contents unopened.

Do all W203s have this pre-heater? Not sure that mine does - if it does I have never noticed.

My 1st aid kit is located behind the drivers seat in my wife's Honda ---- she has nicked it....must get it back and buy her one.
