Hi after reading recent posts regarding updating command sat nav i thought i would check my version but when trying to eject the disc from the control unit in the boot there appears to be no disc(nothing ejects but everything on command is working ok)what do i need to do if i want the maps etc updated to the latest versions in the future?

As far as I know 2008 for the year when COMAND NTG2.5 replaced COMAND NTG1 on the W219 (CLS).

Not sure which one your car has, but if there is a small SD card slot in the COMAND unit just above the DVD slot, then this will be NTG2.5.

NTG2.5 will have the maps on an internal 40gb hard disk drive, so the maps are being uploaded (i.e. copied) from the maps DVD as a one-off - and the maps DVD is not needed after the update.

But if you have NTG2.5 then there should not be a control unit in the boot.... so in short it is best if you establish first which model of COMAND you actually have.

Check the Part Number on the box, if it says B6 782 3627 or A211 827 93 59 (or both) then - assuming the box does go with the unit in your car - you have COMAND NTG1.

In this case, the latest disc for your car will be v12.0 P/N A211 827 39 65. See also:

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: Mercedes Navigation Disks :: Comand APS Map DVD Europe 2011/2012 (V12.0) for E (W211), SL, SLK, Maybach, S (W220), CL (W215), CLS

Just checked box & it's as you say(same part number)so i have ntg1 so if i buy the version you mention is it just a case of inserting & following the instructions?

You sure the disc is not locked??
I know on BMWs and Audis they code the disc to be locked on delivery so they are not nicked, as part of the PDI they are meant to unlock the eject but more often than not they forget.

If you have a NTG1 and as you say Comand sat nav function is alright, then the DVD is most definitively in the nav unit in the boot. Without it, the navigation or map functions would not work. Try holding the eject button pressed for a few seconds. Mel.
