No holes parking sensors? Any used them?

the newer s classes have something similar.. parking sensors hidden behind the bumper, so you dont actually see any holes.. works great..

dont know about after market, but i dont think there would be any problems.. but u will need to remove the bumpers fully to install the versions i have seen previously.

Fitted one to mine and it works just fine. The 'antenna' bit is a thin metal foil which just happened to stick nicely behind the rear bumper rub strip so I didn't even need to take my bumper of to fit it.
I think Jay is fitting them regularly now.

Yes I am... good pieces of kit.. no complaints yet and we must have fitted 10-15... But you will have to remove bumper to do it properly.

Been thinking of doing this to mine
Would I have to remove the bumper on a C Class Elegance saloon 05 plate?
Never taken the bumper off before is it a big job?

Mine is an estate which has a one piece rub strip which was the perfect width to hold the foil antenna without the need for a complete bumper removal. Once the rub strip was off I was able to thread the wiring through to the inside of the boot area an connect up to the reverse lamp & earth.

Why do you take the bumper off Jay, is this just for the saloons?

Not having to remove the bumper would amke life a lot easier.

Nibbo, do you mind using a picture to explain where you have put your antenna strip?

I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Got one fitted to my c class, needed the 2nd 'antenna' strip due to my tow bar but it has worked perfectly since it was fitted a good few months ago now.

Was thinking of the Visual one with the display LEDS as well as the beeper. The thing that puts me off that one is that the display mounts near the ceiling controls so channeling the wires would require removing the roof lining etc. Anyone got any tips on an easier way ?

The W221 does not have visible sensors but the approach is completely different. The W221 has four radar sensors behind the bumpers, these can detect objects from much higher distance (actually in my opinion traditional acoustic sensors are better at short range).

Sorry didnt see this post. Rossyl has posted a how-to in post #11.

i tried the electromagnetic strip but the chrome strip on my avantgarde w203 rub strip seemed to confuse it giving a constant noise.when the rub strip was removed and just stuck to the bumper it seemed to be ok.In the end i dumped it for £20 nikkai drilled sensor option i got from cash convertors.works perfect.
