c Class sport coup'e 2002
Hi Have a 2002 c class sport coupe full MBSH when I bought it from a non MB dealer they did an oil change plus put a stamp in service book now its ready for a A service (18months later) rang my local MB to book in and was told I may not have the right to any claims under Mobilo Life or good will repair aithough they would like me to have them service the car.
Should I now use an Indi or MB?

According to my Mobilio-Life warranty, on my 2000 W215, it is valid, "Always providing that from the start of the fifth year of registration regular servicing has been carried out by the Mercedes-Benz organisation according to the manufacturer's recommendations in an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop."

If your independent service was in 2007 you're on shaky ground. It's always worth trying though. I was in the same position, having had a service a the time of sale, which was the fifth year, at an independent. However I had a subsequent service at my local dealer within a year and have had breakdown call outs and body perforation repairs carried out under Mobilio-Life.

Dave:)
Roger this is one of your 5 a day :bannana:

Have I screwed mine then? I had an Indie service my car last month. Car is 3 and a half years old. They ticked yes in the service book to say mobilo life is ok, or whatever it says to that effect.

I'm sure if my car broke down anyway, I'd have it taken to an Indie for the cheaper repair costs.

Normally you want to do the scheduled services at the dealer otherwise its iffy.

Unexpected stuff is then given to the indy, so you get best of both worlds.

According to my Mobilio-Life, and you should check as yours, being a later model, will be different, you're OK because it is only the servicing in the 5th year that they are concerned with.

So as long as it is serviced by MB in the 5th year I'll be ok? Very odd. Do I carry on with MB from then on.

That's what mine says, see the quote above. Check yours though, Mobilio-Life has changed and later models don't get the same cover.

hi all its the stamp in the service book that may be the prob: as I canot prove that the correct oil was put into the engine.I changed the oil for Mobil 1 0w40 within a month plus new filter just for peace of mind.
Mobilo life says (this only applies where maintenance services have been carried out regulary in accordance with the manufacture's instructions and by a Mercedes-Benz Service Station from the fifth year after delivery of the vehicle by the DaimlerChrysler Organisation. The car should have been serviced not more than 2 years prior to the date of the claim)this can easily be verified by the workshop entry in the following Service Booklet.
CAN I PROVE THE CORRECT GRADE OF OIL PUT INTO ENGINE ?

No, neither can anyone prove the incorrect grade. I wouldn't worry about that.

Last week I had to use Mobilo for recovery and for a replacement vehicle. My car is a 1999 with FMBSH. When I called them , they went through their records on the phone and double checked the service histry goig back quite far on their systems before the sent out the Mobilo service.

Yep, that's what they do. As long as there is a service from a MB dealer in the fifth year of ownership, and subsequent years, they will honour the warranty. Unless the call out is shown to be driver error, then they will charge you.

hi Roger my car did not ask for service in the 5th year now six years old only had service at 2 years 8808 miles 4 years 16516 now ready 21 days to go 25650.

Then, I would say you definitely should get the next service at a MB dealer, as the warranty states, all servicing "from the start of the fifth year" must have been "carried out by the Mercedes-Benz organisation according to the manufacturer's recommendations in an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop."

If there was no servicing in the fifth year but the next is in year six and it is at a MB dealer that fulfils the conditions by my reading. Don't mind what your dealer says, the arbiters are the Mobilio-Life system itself.
