No TMC on route...

I have a Mercedes B180 (2013) and when I set the navigation and start driving the TMC on route doesn’t work?

Any ideas/tips?

Getting really cheesed off with it at the moment :/

Do you have COMAND navigation, or Audio20 with Becker Map Pilot?

Also, do you see the TMC symbol on the navigation screen?

And last, what was the date of first registration of your car?

Sorry for my lame answers below

1) Command or audio20, How do I find out which I have? I don’t think it’s command.

2) Yes when I am using the satnav I can see the satellite and TMC symbol, most of the the time the TMC symbol is highlighted when it has signal

3) I don’t know the date the car was first registered, where can I find that?

With Audio20, the Becker Map Pilot navigation unit is a separate detachable device that plugs into a connector inside the glove compartment. With COMAND, the navigation unit is built-in.

Also, COMAND will have an SD-Card slot (COMAND NTG4.5) or SATA card slot (COMAND NTG4) at the front of the unit.

With regards TMC, it only covers main routes, so most B-Roads and some A-Roads won't be covered.

(The date of first registration is no longer relevant, based on your previous responses....)

I have Audio20 as I put the Becker map pilot cartridge in the slot within the glove box.

Whether I go on main routes or A/B routes it doesn’t seem to work. I can go in the settings and look in the TMC tab which highlights traffic, but that’s not ideal while driving. Also it doesn’t highlight the traffic by nearest location.

Is there a way to activate TMC so it diverts automatically or gives an option to change the route due to traffic?

And should it do voice alerts?

I am not sure, but I would recommend upgrading the BMP firmware to latest version, it's a free download from BMP's website (though you will need to register the device and create an account first).

You may also wish to purchase the latest maps at the same time, though I don't think the maps update is related tp the TMC issue.

You will need to remove the BMP device from the car and connect it to a PC using a Mini-USB cable.

I have already updated the firmware and maps, I also thought that would do the trick but it hasn’t.

I still cannot get TMC to work in conjunction with the Satnav. I want it to give me the option to reroute when there is traffic ahead, and give me audio that traffic is approaching etc etc. Hmmm

Assuming the user manual is no help... have you tried resetting BMP to factory defaults?

Also, do you have TA working OK on the radio? The reason for asking is that some SatNav units get the TMC info via a dedicated antenna, while others get it via the car's radio (not sure how this works on the BMP though).
