Anyone recommend some decent tyres for a clk320 2002 51 plate w208 auto coupe 16 inch standard wheels to keep the car on the road on slippy wet round abouts!

Seems to have a general floaty feeling in the wet and not hard to get the esp light on. Also would lowering help and if so whats the best way of doing it without spoiling the car. Thanks in advance.

Vredestein Sessanta.......amazing in the wet and less expensive than the usual suspects. They look awesome too.

Michelin or Vredestein will work well in damp/wet conditions. I've not tried continental tyres yet but they are also highly rated.

I've had Pirelli's in the past and they were surprisingly bad in the wet..

My car had Continental Contisport 3's on from the factory - not overly impressed in the wet and wore out in 11000 miles!! Had Bridgestone RE050's too but they are discontinued now, I liked those but were bloody awful when it snowed, couldn't even move a little bit!

Vredestein are the best I've tested, best wet grip by far

none lol rwd and the wet dont go hand in hand what you need is throttle control!

Anyone know what best sizes front and back are for my model in the Vredestein Sessanta tyres to go on standard 16inch rims.

Yes throttle control too! :)

I know same as ones I have now, but the speed rating on some of them is different. Are they supposed to be larger or wider tyres on the rear? More tyre pressure at rear etc?

Still felt a little 'floaty' today in the dry, shame on such a nice car. I know some people are keen on the back end play but its not really practical for safety on long trips to be constantly watching it on tight bends.

If I dropped it say 40mm all round would that help? And if so whats the best way of doing it.

On tight bends just apply the throttle carefully on exit in the wet. Practice with the ESP off...that will be lesson in handling and throttle control.

Lowering will not help.

Wider tyres are worse in the wet not better. Read the manual the sizes are in there.

Get a suspension allignement first, then choose some GOOD quality tyres !
