Intermittent light.Told its the nox sensor and no option other than replace with genuine Mercedes. After market parts fail too soon apparently. W213 @ 2017 . Any suggestions or just suck it up and pay ?

Another alternative from my experience: Buy a cheap OBD2 scanner and clear the fault code. Do it again a couple more times when the EML inevitably lights up. Then magically it resets itself and all is fine for a year or so.

Unless of course the NOx sensor really is faulty and it's not just that the results were slightly out of the nominal limits set in the software.

Thanks.I will ask my mechanic neighbour for help with this idea.

diagnostic scanner, but you can still reset a check engine light by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Here’s how to reset your check engine light safely:

  1. Wear safety glasses and gloves.
  2. Turn off the ignition, and open the hood.
  3. Locate the battery and find the negative terminal. It is usually black and/or marked with a minus (-) sign.
  4. Remove the cable from the terminal using a wrench
  5. Hold the negative cable to the side for 30-60 seconds.
  6. Be careful not to let the cables touch. This creates sparks.
  7. If you have a friend nearby, have them engage the vehicle horn to deplete excess power from the vehicle.
  8. Reconnect the negative battery cable
  9. When you restart your vehicle, the check engine light should not illuminate.
Keep in mind that disconnecting the battery may also cause certain infotainment systems to reset at

Or ?
Another way to reset check engine light without tapping into effort-requiring techniques is restarting the car three times. Put the key in the ignition, turn it on and then off. The very next second, repeat the process. Repeat once more to complete three times in a row.
