Engine light came on and my code reader says it was a Nox sensor fault, thought I'd pay and get them deleted as it's the 4th time these have failed. All of which were purchased and fitted by Mercedes.

Took it into Mercedes specialist to get repaired. Thought I'd just repair it for the very last time before I delete them. Diagnostic carried out and the garage ordered me the Nox sensor to sort the problem.

After 2 days the engine light come on with the same error and an additional one regarding the Nox system. Took it back for them to check the problem and the garage is telling me the Nox sensor part is the up to date version and they no longer produce the old one. According to the garage this means the other Nox sensor is not communicating with the old one and therefore would need replacing to.

Garage says by replacing the other (working) Nox sensor to the up to date version it will work properly.

This mean more money.

I don't know what to do :(

Get a full refund on as much as I can and get them deleted or pay another crazy amount to get it sorted? I'm worried these will not work either and then blame it on the ECU not being up to date.

These Nox sensor are really pissing me off!!!!!!

To add to the crazy list of money, I've been fine for driving in a ULEZ zone when my car is Euro 6.

My car is 2014 e350 blutec coupe - I've not had the emissions update.

Please could someone give me some advice on this one. Where do I stand with the garage?

Your time and efforts to help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd opt for the obvious on a 10 year old car . But had you let mb do the software update and your nox sensors fail due to the change, they pay or at least help with costs . A lad near me deletes nox and ad blue for £200 and includes a stage one remap in with the price.

Planning on keeping my car for another 3 before I get a petrol upgrade.

Already paid the garage £700 and the problem is still not fixed. Having to folk out another £700 just so the first issue is not what I had in mind. The only reason I went to a merc specialist is because I didn't want the software update.

The garage said it would be sorted first time round and now said it will be sorted the next time. I'm not convinced , I'm predicting the problem with come back or I will need an ECU update to make the Nox sensors work.

How do I stand on getting my money back
? £700 down already.

Remapping them out is only the way forward as it's a common problem with the Adblue cars. :(

From what I understand you change nox sensors in pairs , because if one fails the other one isn't far behind . Think they are now onto version 4 or 5 , also the software has been changed to pair up with the parameters and ad blue useage . Mb and mb specialists have the insight into the new software etc .

Are you sure that this vehicle is ULEZ free?

I thought 2014 MB diesels are Euro 5, not Euro 6?

Yes I'm sure. Something to do with Mercedes not having the correct V5C stating the car is Euro 5. A V5C Corrections Documentation is need and you have to pay £30. Once I have the new documentation letter I am able to update the ULEZ database.

You change the sensors in pairs , first time I've heard of this. If I knew that before the repair I would not of gone through with the job.

Instead I was told it would be fixed first time and now after the job it's not fixed, I now have to pay to replace a working sensor for it to be fixed. So I have to pay to repair the repair that I've just paid for.

So more money and what if this doesn't work , then I'm sure they will force me to do an emission update as I'm not certain that this will fix the problem.

Then after all of this I will have to pray that they will last.

The diagnostic test determines how many you have to replace If its diagnosed with the proper MB equipment. Usually its just one at a time.

I thought that to.

What the garage is telling me is that the Nox sensor it's replacing has a slightly different number (updated version) and he can't get an exact replacement due to them not being manufactured anymore. So sounds like an incorrect part.

So the only option to fix the second problem (nox not communicating with each other is to replace the other Nox sensor) more money and replacing something that is working.

I have lost confidence that this second repair won't resolve the issue.

:(

One at a time , but both in due course 😄

OK but to be ULEZ Compliant in London a Diesel engined vehicle needs to be Euro 6,so does your vehicle comply with the requirements for Euro 6 and has been recorded as Euro 5?
