NTG 2.5 Questions

Hi there, Im new around here and to Mercedes so be gentle.

I just purchased a 2009 CLS with the APS Command NTG2.5 headunit.
I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.

1. Bluetooth phone pairing - it pairs fine with my Android phone but it wont do it automatically, it always reverts to the convenience phone option. I cant delete this in the bluetooth pairing set up. Any idea how to get it to automatically pair to my phone.

2. Music Streaming - are there any options to stream music from my phone, I know I cant do it with the unit itself but is there a plug in (the media port in glovebox) device to make the head unit believe a phone is plugged in? All I seem to be able to find is for apple not android.

3. HDD - how on earth do I transfer audio from the cd to the hdd, is this possible or how do I put anything onto the hdd (I have the manual I cant find it though)

Sorry, I can't help with your first two questions, though I don't think Bluetooth music streaming is supported.

You can't transfer from CD to the music register (HDD), you have to do it with an SD card in the slot.

Bluetooth media streaming is not supported. If you have the ipod/ media interface fitted.... 30pin plug in the glove box then you can get a video blue tooth adaptor. Allows track changes in the steering wheel etc but will only bring up track names with Apple kit. Works very well with android, just no track names.

Right I didnt realise I had to copy to the memory card first. Thats fine I can do that no bother.

Just need to sort out the bluetooth pairing issue now

My NTG2.5 paired successfully with every phone I tried it with over the past 5 years, including Nokia, Samsung, and iPhone. And once paired it remembered the setup.

I don't know what is causing your issue, but on a general note I would suggest a firmware upgrade?

It definately has old firmware. Already spoken to a dealer to get it updated with the latest Telematics version. It pairs no problem manually, it just doesnt seem to want to do it automatically and the convenience phone is ticked until I manually select my phone.

Im guessing the convenience phone is the cradle in the armest cubby?

Yes the Convenience Telephony is located in the centre armrest.

I don't have this feature, so I guess it is possible that the Convenience Telephony in your car overrides the NTG2.5 Bluetooth.

No idea how to disable it... you could of course just buy the BT adapter for the Convenience Telephony, but these are not cheap.

Convenience telephone will always override the built in bluetooth.

Make sure there is no cradle on the comfort phone connector in the arm rest and then go into TEL -> Telephones and select your phone instead of the Convenience phone. This should ensure that your phone connects automatcally each time you get into the car. If it still doesnt work then pop down and see us, we can turn convenience off permanently for you.

NTG 2.5 does not support music streaming unless you have the media interface fitted and then deploy this device;

You cannot copy from CD to the HDD. It's piracy. You can copy from SD card to HDD though.

Hey, I have a 2008 CLS, I unplugged the convenience phone (it pops out the cradle) and hey presto, it cant connect and defaults to my android phone now straight away , anoyingly I have a work phone and personal phone so still have to use the menu to see which one I want to be linked to

How does it unplug? I gave it a quick pull but its fairly solid and not budging.

Poppping down isnt an option as I have to cross the Irish sea first lol

I was about to say there is a pus button and quite a bit of heavy handed pulling and it pops out mine lives in the dash now
